Dominica News Online has received information about an accident which occurred earlier today close to the Fond Cole bus stop.
Reports indicate the accident involved a motorcycle and a bus.
The driver of the motorcycle is said to be seriously injured. He has been identified as Donelle Peters, from Mahaut. Eyewitnesses say he was thrown into the bus as a result of the impact of the collision.
Presently there is a huge back up of traffic in the area.
DNO is following this story and will publish more information as it becomes available.

People must be responsible especially when driving on the roads. These are small winding roads which are dangerous when wet or speeding. Where are these people going that they cant take their time.It takes little time to get around. Everything can wait if your life is at stake.On a sad note everyone does not go to heaven when they die. Heaven is a prepared place for Gods people. Take it easy brothers. Bike are fast to get u where you’re going, but they are extremely dangerous also.Be cautious.
There are always going to be accidents, no matter where in the world you are. People on Bikes, foot and vehicles have to be more careful. But is always some one to create an accident. Dominica should have mandatory breath test for alchol, because some people drive durnk. Mandatory to have helmits when riding Motor Bikes, and speed limits. I dont’t mind the reckless drivers die, but when innocent people have to die, or get injured this is not right. Dominican, where are we going when we drive fast? Either we go in the sea, river, over the ciiff or drive into pedestrians. Dominica is small, with winding roads. We need to take our time. Dominica is small we are going to get where we going. Slow and steady wins the race. When we live on the fast lane, we will sure to die fast.

We seriously need some law to ensure people maintain and frequently service both bikes and and vehicles alike. The bike doesn’t even look road worthy. With that said, I am not so fast to blame bike riders because Dominican drivers in general are very reckless and inconsiderate. It is hard to see bikes when you are coming from a junction into the main road, most times you look for something bigger and miss can miss a bike. A second or third look and some more patients from drivers wouldn’t hurt. In relation to this accident, from where the damage on the bus is, it could well be that the bus was coming from a side road onto the main road and the guy went into it. You just never know. Dominican drivers need to relax.

helmet laws need to be enforced in dominica along with speed limit laws this quy always rides wrecklessly up and down the place making loud noises with that bike they should charge him for speeding and endangering other road users life

This is strange. Today I thought that there has not been an accident recently and hope that it remained that way. I can’t believe that there was one and a bad one at that.
If I recall reading on DNO, in recent months, a few accidents have occurred at that area in Fond Cole area. Cautious driving is necessary.
I wonder who is at fault. Nevertheless, I hope the injured motorcyclist will recover in time. Poor guy. He must be in a lot of pain.
From and with the heart, let us pray for him, for his recovery. May God assist him and ease his pain. Lord, please help him and also give strength to his family to bear this occurrence of their loved one.

what a sad incident his family most be crying and praying for him to be OK hope he will be able to walk again things like that can lead to death and it also shows reckless driving and that when driving you most be careful luckily there was no one on the bus but the bus driver
I am a rider for over 25 years, 5 different countries.
I must say this one with its lapse rules on motor vehicles and bikes is a joke. They say there goes that crazy Frenchman on his bike, I don’t ride crazy but I ride a bike so I’m stereotyped.
Who is wrong is for the courts, having my homeboy infront of me in good health is much better than the stupity some of u are writing.
That same crossing took a life and injured another co worker.

Unfortunalty people tend to generalise -and you cant deny the fact that motorcyclist in Dominica do drive fast and do take unnecessary risks.I am sorry if this is someone you know and it is true that we are not sure what happened. So lets just pray for his recovery

If this is so, it is called a hit and run. If the driver is at fault and also left the scene of the accident, even driving a few feet away, he is in deep trouble for those two infractions. Even though it is one, he should have stayed put, i.e., to remain at the scene for surely he knew that he either hit someone or that someone hit him. He cannot say that he did not feel the impact of the motorcycle. Unless he was speeding too much and loud music was being played in his bus.

That’s what I say “what’s the rush….where’s the fire.” Even an ambulance going to the hospital with an emergency has no hope.
Wow, where was thecyclist going with such speed, obviously he had a high rate of speed. I strongly believe that the authorities need to seriously enforce the use of HELMETS for motor cyclist riders. It’s in the traffic act so why not enforce it.
