We are too quick to judge. I agree that judgment of murders should be swift and we should set examples for society since we have been spiraling downwards for years. At the same time we have to be fair and hear the other side. Manslaughter is not the same as murder.

On another note, I would like to know his background and analyse what factors lead to him being in this situation in other to make a change to curb our society. I hope both DLP and UWP are reading.

Im sure the two were friends, at some point at least. Young men stop acting on emotions and gather some self control. This is what Dr. Umar Johnson talks about. We need fathers to step up and teach our young boys how to be men. To control anger, to deal with their emotions in a mature manner, to learn to be productive providers and to protect instead of seeking to destroy and cause harm. The family unit is broken. Even more so today when we have children who were badly brought up, having children who know no better and become worse then their parents. Sad story as i knew this lil homey who died. he was a respectful yute who always greeted me on my passing. He seemed upful but badly guided. Jah bless both families on both sides of this unfortunate incident. Jah guide and protect.

Turning himself in means nothing in the Dominican Criminal Justice System. The entire Attorney General’s Office is inept and incompetent. They should all be sacked immediately and allow more competent persons to lead that office. Now, sentence his behind to hard labor after his conviction.

It is disgusting how selective and bias the media is in disclosing the names of suspects and even their photos.

Why why why this double standard? This secret veil will give comfort to criminals out there. Expose them and if found guilty? Loose their key.

It’s a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways. Murderers should get a very swift trial and the harshest punishment. We have to learn to live together in unity or perish like fools. These senseless killings must stop. A gun is an instrument of death, a knife was made to cut things not stab people.

Who killed the young man still a secret, though almost 24 ago according to DNO, the suspect turned himself in to the Police. But the scariest thing about this murder is, the victim was a close friend of the Skerrit’s as evidenced by what Melissa Skerrit said today and, the fact that he was in one of the young men seen with very queestionable character seen in the Melissa thing at the Windsor park last week. Like Melissa I do condemn his murder but at the same time I am asking myself why would the wife of the PM, who is now a the candidate for Roseau Central, sorrounded herself with so many characters that are either jailed, on remand or wanted for some horrible crimes? I ask myself this question knowing how the PM was the friend of a drug man from Marigot that was killed in one of the islands, then a friend of a young man from Vieille-case that was jailed for murder and was wanted before he was killed in Antigua and the PM was a very close friend of Monfared and other wanted criminals

      @Criminal Enterprise,
I don’t know how good you are at reading and understanding but you out to read properly before you and others like you start writing crap on DNO each day. The Pm wife was just trying to help the boy off street crime but not a close friend of hers, stop trying to play clever and politic.

@ Silver Fox and others, here is a direct quote from Melissa’s FB post: “Today, the devastating news of the senseless murder of my friend brought me to tears.” Did you see she referred to him as her FRIEND? I have no problems with thumbs up and thumbs down. I only speak my mind as I see fit, in a respectful manner. Honestly speaking I am not even concerned about who the Skerrit’s choose as friends. However, with where Dominica is today, I am concerned about known criminals that are close to leaders because I know people with bad character are being paid to do bad things to people they don’t like. A good example is the firebombing of GON Emmanuel’s house, when a known young man with a not too good character, confessed that he was paid by someone to commit the act. We know the rest so you come to your own conclusion.

Why? Because when Jesus passed Zacchius the tax collector sitting in the tree he didn’t say ‘this man is a sinner, let me not associate myself with such lest I be labelled as such”. He said to him to come down. So while it may not be the best public image, she may be able to change or have some influence on the lives of these young men, maybe even get them to contribute positively to society. A lot of these young men would prefer not to be in the life but because there is seemingly no alternative or they don’t have adequate support positive influence, they will stay. I’m saying this to say, let’s not be so quick to judge. Too many of our young men are lost to this drug trade. If there is some way to positively influence them and guide them onto the right path, then by all means let’s. Just my take on it.

@DA girl you comparing Melissa Skerrit to Jesus? Madam, the only reason Jesus walked with people of questionable character was so that he could change them so they could become better people. It was not because He was a candidate of a party. Secondly, leaders, especially politicians that are afraid for their future can pay and will pay people with questionable character to do anything for them. A good example is that of the fire bombing of GON Emmanuel house where a person with questionable character said on radio that he was paid by a very reputable person to carry the attack OK. In another country there world have been a thorough investigation but we know the soup made here. But as a Christian myself I wonder what he meant by EVIL tree cannot bring forth good fruits. I in my limited capacity I understand him to mean Bad people cannot make bad people good.

You’re so clean that you do not have criminal friends, the one who sleeps in the bed with you could be the biggest criminal, this is such an ignorant argument, this man is the prime minister, the prime minister for all, every Dominican from all walks of life has the right to approach him for help even foreigners to, so this argument does not hold water,Dominica is part of a world that exists with the haves not and haves, everyone feeds on an ego which is huge, that some would steal or kill to feed it,so don’t blame peter for pauls crime, every tub has to stand on it’s own bottom and face his or her own judgement

If you did read her post properly and understand you would of known why. Aren’t they human beings too. Not because he chose his pathway she should distance herself. Don’t be like a typical elder and chastised the youths.

@Criminal Enterprise, your foolish line of reasoning is the reason we have so many people, young, mature, old, disadvantage, and weak, wandering the World in a state of lost and unwanted; the sun doesn’t shine for them in the day, and darkness is their pillow at night.

Unfortunately, you have 11 people supporting your foolish idea at this time; you fail to understand that those are the people whom Melissa, and everyone who is involved in the affairs and well being of the country, should surround themselves with because they are the weak and disadvantaged, who needs attention.

The self-righteous Jewish leaders of Jesus’ days on Earth also questioned His ways just as you did above; the fact that He hung around with sinners (as they call it), Jesus said to them I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Jesus is saying that He could not have saved anyone by being distant from them; it is that clear to you?

You forget Elisabeth, Jesus was first an foremost a Jew. He was circumcisie and worshipped in a synagoge remember, the temple in Jerusalem was a jewish synagoge. Your church did not exist when Jesus was alive.

DNO I know you cannot put out information until the alleged person is charged. But I thought in a case like this one where the suspect has turned himself in to the police, you would be able to tell us at least who that person is.
