UPDATE: Mother receives assistance for critically injured son

Jerwani Fedor is at the ICU at the PMH suffering from severe injuries

Jasmine Joseph, mother of Jerwani Fedor, has confirmed that she has received help to airlift her injured son to Martinique at 1:30 pm today to seek further medical attention.

Joseph told DNO that she has been overwhelmed by the support she has received since going public with her story.

She expressed immense gratitude to her parliamentary representative Rayburn Blackmoore, the government of Dominica, KennyG and Asa Banton, for their considerable donations and support, and the general public.

She said the generous outpouring from the public has given her strength.

Joseph will be accompanying her son to Martinique.

Jerwani was seriously injured when he tumbled down a hill while riding his bicycle over the Easter weekend.

This one may be very difficult to accomplish but that’s the reason we pay ministers of government so much money and give them numerous perks. The time has come for the government to think about national health insurance for all bona fide Dominicans living on the island. Relying on the generosity of the public to fund medical costs when one has to seek medical attention overseas is not good enough. As I said before, it’s not an easy proposition to do but at least it should be debated and given favorable consideration. Our people’s best interest must be on the front burner at all times. We need to put people first and not politics.

All is not lost in Dominica. There are still some generous people that live on the island. Let’s all hope and pray that this young man who has not yet begin to live out his true potential makes a complete recovery and go on to be whatever he wants to be. Mama, may the outpouring of love comfort your aching soul throughout this ordeal. ONE LOVE!

When I go home i always see that young lady with her two boys and does admire how good she is with them. I am happy she got the help needed. I wish your son a speedy and full recovery. And may the other little one be comforted while mommy and Jerwani are away. God bless!
