UPDATE: Suspected drowning in Kalinago Territory

police do not crossThe police are investigating the death of Raphael Darroux, 54, of Gullet River in the Kalinago Territory whose body was fished out of the sea on Wednesday, January 20 at around 10:30 am.

A police report says he was reported missing at around 9:00 am on the same day.

Darroux was transported to the Castle Bruce Health Center where he was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

A coroner’s inquest will be convened in the matter.

Sources in the area told DNO that Darroux, also known as “Ti Took,” went rock fishing late Tuesday afternoon, January 19, in an area in Gullet River but never returned.

On Wednesday morning, a search was carried out and it is reported that his fishing equipment was found on the rocks, with his dog lying nearby.

More residents joined the search and Darroux’s body was subsequently seen floating in the sea.

Condolences to the family of this man. Pray you find comfort in the Lord. Now the people that are saying that something is wrong in Dominica and further putting it all on politics, need I remind you that people die everyday; at their homes, the hospital, clinics etc. Some are due to sickness and some are sudden. Kairi and DBS always have death announcements everyday. Do we say oh my, not again? what is going on? No, because death is a fact of life. I wonder if they had to put ALL deaths on DNO what we would say.

The woes and pains of this world. We never know what may occur in the future. This is sad and sadder yet for his family.
My sincere sympathy to his family. May your sorrowful heart be consoled and strengthened, knowing that our Loving God is sharing in your grief.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

Are you serious truth ? Instead of Sympathizing with the family for their devastating loss, you are putting a political spin on the man’s death? How horrible; some people are.

Have you even been to a cemetery? Why do you think we have burial grounds? Is it because people never die? I remember as a child one of the biggest events in the Catholic Church was All Saints and All Souls. On All Souls Day we would go to the cemetery and light the graves of all our faithful departed. Truth, I will tell you a well known secret; All of us including you and me are going to die some day. The only thing we do not know is the hour of our death. only God knows that. What we do know the only sure thing in life is death, nothing else in life is sure.

Death is already hard as it is. We do not have to ridicule a family pain with our heartless feelings. My God when did Dominicans become so unfeeling? My Condolences to the family of the deceased.

I am unable to comprehend some people. A death occurs, a murder is committed and other occurrences and they bring politics into it. Senseless people.

But you know; one cannot blame a government, or even that bad boy Skerrit for the drowning of a citizen, unless we are sure he committed suicide due to some economic stressors, or mental disorder caused by economic pressures as those created by Skerrit in the country!

He could have slipped, and fell, and hit his head, which rendered him unconscious while he fell into the water, where he drowned. An effective autopsy should find an extra ordinary amount of sea or river water in longs which will identify if he died from drowning or another cause.

People do drop dead from natural causes also! If he consumed alcohol, maybe he could be inebriated too; hence, he could have fallen asleep and eventually toppled over into the river, or sea. If one is asleep; breathing in water, that could well be the executioner!
