West Indies batsman Runako Morton dies in Trinidad car crash

Morton

The West Indies batsman Runako Morton has died following a car accident in Trinidad on Sunday night. Reports in the Caribbean said the 33-year-old lost control of his vehicle while driving and was killed when he crashed into a utility pole.

Morton played in 15 Tests and 56 one-day internationals for West Indies, and his last appearance for his country came against Australia in a Twenty20 international in 2010. While he averaged 22.03 in Tests, he had more success in the limited-overs game. He averaged 33.75, with the highlight an unbeaten 110 against New Zealand in 2006.

I am sad that he died, but don’t give him praise he does not deserve. He was not a great batsman. As a player he was an under-achiever.
