Antigua school boys cricket team in Dominica to engage their local counterparts

Antigua school boys cricket team

A combined school cricket team from Antigua arrived in Dominica last week for a number of cricket matches against the Dominica Combined School Team.

The series of matches started with a friendly encounter on Saturday, August 13 at Windsor Park Sports Stadium (WPSS).

Forty-over matches to be played at Windsor Park Sports Stadium and Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth.

Manager of the Antigua team, former West Indies Wicket Keeper, Riley Jacob said that the young cricketers are given the opportunity to play cricket out of Antigua and to showcase their talent. He said these young players are the future of West Indies Cricket and they need to be given the exposure early in their life.

The Antiguan boys cricket team will be in Dominica until the 24th of August.

The Soufriere ground has produced some very good players, I played there myself when I taught at the school.
The training I got there helped me to become a reasonable bowler.
Please do not blame Ms Charles for the poor state of the ground instead we should encourage her to invest in the ground and even put light there for night activities
    This is my view
    Thank you

Dowad, another fake news UWP jacka. There were village cricket tournaments and you know the government had nothing to do with that. The teams would get their own sponsers. They would buy gears and fix their own wicket. The village of St.Joseph has produced the most national players, and can pick two 12 man sqad who have played for Dominica. The field the played on to become national players is still there today.Somerset did not go begging,or depending on government for help. They worked hard as a sports club.Every village had a sports league, cricket, football, dominoes and rounders.Since UWP lost power in 2000 they went on a campaign, encouraging young people not to take part in sports.

It is such a disgrace the level cricket 🏏 has dropped in Dominica.
The ” weave ” minister, so called pal rep of the Soufriere constituency along with the skoldogerry prime Minister destroyed cricket in our area.
I visited home few weeks ago and you should seethe state of ” Brooklyn ” , once the cricket mecca of the south , Denise has turned it to a Jurassic park. What a shame ”
Could you imagine there’s no School cricket in the Soufriere constituency?
Bunch of waste , calling themselves ministers, pal rep etc.

But you will agree the glory days of Dominica cricket was not under UWP.Listen to sports rap,and tell me who is killing Dominica cricket.Hodge and Athanaze are two sports personalities.Hodge Westindies senior team, and Athanaze Westindies A team. How many times have you heard UWP Lockhart Sebastien and UWP Ossie Lewis mention the two Dominicans on their programme?

The Antiguas school boys don’t know Skerrit and Roselyn Paul killed cricket in Dominica man. Ridley Jacob will realize that there is no school in Dominica today that has a functioning cricket team or cricket program thanks to Skerrit and Ms. Paul. It’s so bad that during Bangladesh match the sports minister could not highlight the progress of cricket in Dominica so she had to talk about the corrupt housing program of Skerrit. So damn shameful! Hope my friend Ridley Jacob goes back to Antigua and tell Gaston Brown that hurricane Skerrit destroyed cricketer in Dominica to the point that he couldn’t find a school here with a functioning cricket team

Reminds me of Choksi. Anyway make them play SMA. Or brink them in the Kalinago Territory for them to play the youth in that area. OR if we have a youth cricket team let them play against them. Otherwise, what are we really doing for sports here in Dominica.

This is an excellent initiative for the sport and the islands. More of these need to be done.
