Bishop calls for prayer and unity during upcoming general election

Bishop of Roseau, Gabriel Malzaire

Bishop of Roseau, His Lordship Gabriel Malzaire has encouraged Dominicans to pray ahead the next general election for a peaceful Dominica.

On Sunday, he told the Catholic Church Charismatic Conference in Portsmouth, that the Christian values of Dominica will be tested during elections.

“I am here referring to the reality of a general election and what it can do to our nation. We know from the evidence of past years that this is the one most divisive event in our society,” Bishop Malzaire stated. “You and I know that after the general elections, many of the nice Catholics and nice Christian people will not be speaking to each other simply because we are not able to allow different opinions and view points to contend.”

The Bishop stated that based on experience, it can be predicted that in the coming days, weeks and months, the Christian values of the people will be put to the test.

He said the ability to sustain the oneness that should help overcome any form of hatred and anger, “the holiness that requires us to seek the good above all else, the catholicity that requires us to open to all and to accept all, the apostolicity that demands true witness to the living gospel will be tested.”

Malzaire said the model of the early Christian community is instructive in the manner in which it dealt with potentially divisive situations.

He referred to the apostles who brought every situation to prayer and challenges nation to do the same.

“Therefore  pray daily for those you love, but  pray even harder for those you do not love so much,” Bishop Malzaire advised.

So Dominicans do not believe their prayers to God are answers to the ills, disdain, and discord, in our Dominica, but they believe that word of men is the answer

Where is the “faith and trust in God” among us, the “God-fearing” Nation? Where is the reverence and honor for God, when people don’t believe that prayers to Him are the answer to the vile and strife of our Nation?

It seems that Dominica’s ills are not from government, nor political party, the ills of the Nation come from our unhealthy, dark, dirty, and sinful, state of mind.

The change needed is through our “mentality”; it is a “spiritual revolution”, a work of exorcism from God, to cleanse and sanctify this ill-natured mind of ours, to learn to respond to His Laws of Life.

He said: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

In the picture above i see a man with a long staff called a A crosier. It signifies a good Shepard. That metaphor is used in the bible as it relates to men being like sheep and spiritual leaders being sheppards to guide the flock to greener pastures, in the case of man heaven. The reason why it is powerful is because sheep will follow the Shepard wherever he leads them. If the Sheppard leads them down a steep cliff sadly sheep follow. A good Sheppard understand if he wants his flock to go to greener pastures he leads the way and set the example that the sheep follows. Now Bishop lead by example and you implore that all political leaders do the same guide by principles of respect, honesty, hardwork, truth humility. Why dont you have a sit in meeting with all leaders and stay away from the perception of picking sides. Return the 500k you received and then i can listen to you. Bishop you have been a terrible Sheppard go see how empty church in villages look. I am Catholic so i know.

Prayers are sways good but action, coupled with prayer, works much better. The Bishop sat with tight lips for far too long. He, the Bishop, if he has any credibility, he would have called on Skerrit to do the right things. Bishop, your actions are so loud that I can’t even hear you when you speak.

There needs to be international election observers and police for the next election and only true Dominicans should be allowed to vote. They also need to ban all large aircraft full of people from landing till the election is over to keep non Dominicans, those who bought passports and citizenship out. People coming in on the ferry need to be checked too. Yours truly may send out his goon squads dressed up in camouflage playing soldier to intimidate voters that’s why an international police force should be present to deal with them. There is a want to be dictator in the house.

Boss we need more than prayers now. All you fellas stood there in the presence of allegations of all sort of corruption and even when there was evidence and never took a stance as leaders of the community to challenge roosvelt.now we need electoral reform let roosvelt know because i am sure you can see how this will end up if there is no reform before election

Bishop, I expect you to be diplomatic, however, since he and the Pope are on record as calling for electoral reform, to call for prayers and unity is not showing enough leadership when its most needed. Prayer will not deliver the electoral reform required and the unity will not happen unless the electoral reform happens before the next general election. Bold leadership from civic leaders like you is what is required so don’t play games as games will appease the ones denying the masses what they have asked for and what you and Pope Francis have also called for as well. I know that Skerritt helped with State funds to help repair the roof of the cathedral, for this you must be grateful but you can’t now fall asleep at the switch. You have already called for electoral reform and since Burton and Skerritt say it won’t happen before the next election, repeat the call which your flock is vocally calling out for, now. I’m counting on you and watching you. Your move, Sir.

Sorry Mr. Bishop, but prayers are not going to be wasted any more.
What needed now, is action! Shake your dress and tell Skerrit to call the election now. The people are fed up and desperate.
A change of government is needed immediately in this country.

The Bishop is a salaried man of “GOD” Man made , the question to be asked , is , why is his congregation so animated at Election time ? what is the Churches opinion on the political Melee ? Mr Malzair true to form , is projecting what his Church is all about , like Vultures they will benefit from the Carcass of the Election. Prayer without Work changes nothin …………………………………..He seems to be doing just Great , misleading the misguided .

    Gabriel, man stop talking bull!
Had it not been for people like you who for years up-hold and supported this corrupted regime to which you belong, Dominica would not be in the state in which the country now exists!

When people pray for something; sometimes they have to act to see result of their prayers!
God plays no part into politics; he does not preference one political party over the other.
If that was part of his work; he would not have said:

“Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesars, and unto God the things that are God.”
Caesar was a politician you see man!
The most delirious thing about it all is when demonic tools of Satan like you claims to be bishop comes out and support corruption by influencing your congregation to vote labor and Roosevelt, they give him power where you benefited over half of a million dollars from him!
After you capitalized the $5,000,000.00 or how much, you told him he will be compensated!

    • May 28, 2019

Alas. It seems like we should not even pray for peace any more. And we say we love our country. God be with us all. 2 years ago we were almost non-existent by Maria. But here are tearing each other apart. And the head of the church can’t even ask the faithful to pray for peace. Wow. God you are in control.

        Are you crazy?
        You talking about me?

Where have you been, don’t you  know you are talking about the wrong man: eh, eh, eh?

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

In Dominica we have a saying “go and wheel around and come again:”

I do not know what that means, but I know you have confused me with someone else!

        I’m not the one.

My advice to the Bishop is that on the day of election make sure he and other spiritual leaders stay with Roosevelt Skerrit, especially by around 6pm, when it will be confirmed to him that the people of Dominica have rejected him. Please warn him not to fall on his sword like King Saul in the Bible. I also want to advise the Hon. Linton to make sure he sorrounds Skerrit with the best of the SSU on election night, when the results will be announced and he will be the PM elect, just to make sure no foreign group comes for Skerrit

To the best of my knowledge Bishop Gabriel Malzaire, is the first black bishop of Roseau and it is so sad that under his black watch Dominica plunged into utter darkness and might be even be too far gone. Not only that but significantly is the role the bishop played in our demise. If the bishop had told Skerrit it was wrong to marry a person that was already married, Skerrit would respect him as a man of God. If when Skerrit gave the bishop a $500k check, the bishop had told him bribing has been condemned in the Bible, Skerrit would not be in the mess he is in today. If only the bishop had opened his mouth and condemn all the evils and corruption that he well knew about, their would be no need to ask us to pray. If the bishop had condemned the voice that said it was too late for election reform, something the bishop called for at the beginning of the year, he would not send us to pray today. I blame the Bishop, the Evangelist and the unfaithful pastor for where we are today.

You know I always wonder about that, why Roosevelt and Melissa get married in a little chapel in the countryside like that. You see, if you marry as a catholic you can not divorce an marry in churchPipo again unless you get a permit from Rome to say your first marriage was not valid. So maybe that ceremony was just a blessing but not a full marriage according to the catholic church?
But they are married in the eyes of the law though and Melissa can divorce him
and sue him for at least half his fortune and go and live America before its too late and he loses all.

These so called religious leaders are turning people away from the church with their 2×4 sermons. Prayer is always good and God fearing people should always pray. But the Bishop knows very well that in the case of Dominica, we gonna need more than prayer. In fact people like the Bishop and those other hypocrite religious leaders that have corrupted themselves with the corruption of Skerrit would love to see us remain quiet in the midst of prevailing evil and say we going to pray. But the fact is, when the Israelites were dying because of the evil of the people in Joshua 7, God did not tell them to pray. In fact Joshua took it upon ;himself to pray but God STOPPED him and told him this in 7:10: “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?” It was because the people had sinned and did evil. It was because they had taken devoted things; they had stolen, they had lied, and stolen goods their own possessions. These are the same we see in DA today and shame on those leaders!
