Blackmoore ignores call to resign; says he has done nothing wrong

National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore

Embattled Minister for Justice, Immigration and Labour, Rayburn Blackmoore, who is at the centre of accusations of alleged gross moral misconduct and abuse of his power as Minister for Justice, among others, has brushed aside calls for his resignation as a government minister.

At a media press conference held by his ministry, Blackmoore was asked to respond to those allegations which, after going viral, have become the topic of much discussion in Dominica.

“Whosoever diggeth a pit shall fall [and] bury in it…the fact that I am a public figure  and every public figure is exposed to public scrutiny, does not mean that one can trample on my good name and defame my character,” Blackmoore responded.

Blackmoore, in an earlier release, said he had filed “a criminal libel complaint to the police” to investigate the matter.

When asked by the press to give details of his complaint to the police, he had this to say: “I cannot direct the police as to what to do and their investigations. As a citizen, I have a right to protect my name and my family. A report has been made to the police about criminal libel.”

He continued, “It’s funny how people can be so simplistic as to how they appreciate and analyze issues. Jesus Christ was crucified and buried and rose again on the third day. Those who crucified him, he said, ‘come meet me; I’m your Saviour.”

He shrugged off calls for his resignation.  “You resign if you have done something wrong and have abused your authority. I am one person who has walked the straight track and the rule of law and will do so till I die. I can’t tell people what to do…If that causes the person to be happy, then one love,” he stated.

“I am a very focused individual and will not speak on gutter politics. There is a way to deal with people who falsify and fabricate people’s name and [I] won’t waste my energy on childish and devilish intentions,” the Justice minister declared.

Any allegation of such magnitude should be taken seriously. Even the women in the Labour should ask for an investigation into the matter.. Because if such is not the truth well Mr Blackmore should take action. In the mean time please Mr Prime minister don’t u think enough is enough? To many allegations mon, you guys must alllll go away….

Rayburn this distraction will go no till elections, if you really love the PM please submit your resignation and relieve him of asking you to resign. There is more to come in the story and it’s even more telling. You know in your heart it’s true. I remember Bill Clinton looking straight into a camera and saying ” i did not have sexual relations with that woman” and then the evidence was presented he admitted that he had lied. what you did is even more telling than Bill Clinton. please do not wait, resign now it will be more embarrassing later.

Do you know how silly you are with such a comment First of when you say quote “You know in your heart it’s true,” do you know how ludicrous that is, such a statement can only come from an irrational mind. Secondly, you cannot compare this with the Clinton saga. The incidents are not the same. Clinton case was based on morality and conduct, not a criminal act, in Blackmore case, a crime is alleged to have taken place. In Clinton case, you had a person admitting to the inappropriate behavior with Clinton. In Blackmoore case why hasn’t the victim come forward to make a public statement saying she was assaulted by Blackmoore. Is there any report made by the victim to the relevant authorities. Why didn’t the alleged victim go to the hospital after such a vicious crime, if she did there would be medical records proving such incident took place. Why should Blackmoore resign when he is not charged for anything. Where is the evidence to prove such an incident took place.

So Rayburn all of a suden you want to hide behind the coat-tails of your family ?? LOL ! So long we the memebrs of your extended family were telling you to curb your ways and come back to settle down with your real family but NO! you were too big to listen to us. So I find it very funny when I hear you crying out ” I have a family!” Is now you know that nor?
You even find words in the Bible to repeat? Where were these words when we used to go to church and invite you? But No! You were too big to go to church with us. Now your tail is on fire you remember the Good Book! You always had to go to a meeting with your P.M . I hope he save you now! Anywyas all of all you covering for eachother so I don’t expect him to fire you.
Your calling on the Bible reminds me of a guy we used to arrest for theft and he used to repeat again and again the Lord’s prayer everytime he was caught. Do the right thing and go quietly.
I only mentioned your name because this Post is about you.

Before pointing fingers the opposition must first make sure their own hands are clean…calling for mister Blackmore’s resignation when there is a high ranking parliamentary opposition member who has been arrested and charged with a serious legal matter along the same lines as what mister Blackmore is being accused of…where are the calls for that opposition member to step down until he has been either acquitted or convicted?

You must really be living in space! with your head so high above reality that you can’t comprehend the basic issues that are going on in Dominica.
First of all Blackmore has not denied anything! Saying that he did not do anything wrong does not mean he acted correctly in an un-named allegation. I want him to tell us what matter did he not do any wrong in? He has never addressed the issues at hand! So we still do not know what it is he is denying!
The Opposition is not the ones calling for him to resign. It is the people in his constituency. We want reputable representation .
The opposition was not there or responsible for his alleged actions.
All you too like to blame the opposition for DLP ministers malcasse’ ways.
The opoosition did not buy tickets when some people went to Dubai and St. Lucia on vacation. So how can you guys even mention the opposition?

Helllo Space, this is not about politics and labour or uwp, this is an allegation of very very immoral and unlawful behaviour by a minister of government.. So you better keep your lil self quiet OK. Wrong is wrong no matter who does it.. And furthermore, to have the police service whose duty it is to protect n serve coil up in dat piece of nasty allegation is something for caricom, United Nations n other international groups who keeep an eye on good governance.. If that was in Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados, you would hear the PM.. But as usual PM Skerritt must be calling on the goood lord.. Bring in international investigators because the local police name is around this serious allegation…….

How can someone hide under a blog name MITC and accuse Mr. Blackmore of serious hideous crimes . MITC needs to take out the mask and report these allegations to the Police. These allegations are just beff and RoRo until those accusing Mr. Blackmore can come forward and challenged him by reporting the matter to the police. MITC is a coward and is only out to cause harm to Mr. Blackmore
    This is unacceptable

    January 7, 2019

Blackmore is a very good football player and the day he resigns or retires from politics I will hire him to coach my football team, so he could teach the young players how to kick the ball and score a goal. The man is so damn talented and has such a good left kick that he could play for Manchester United or any of the international football teams around the world. Blackmore is really wasting his time in politics because I can see how he could become either a superstar player or elite coach.

The Skerrit-led regime is notorious for its banditry and corruption. Truth and honest is too bitter a poll to swallow for these ruling compulsive pack of liars. Liars cannot change, they just learn how to lie better. For Blackford to invoke the name of Jesus in his defence is tantamount to desecrating the Lord’s sacred name. The ruling outlaws are only obsessed with three (3) things, Money, Power and Sex. Everything else for them is inconsequential and disposable. This government will most definitely fall to pieces if the whole truth about their operations were to be exposed. That’s the reason the business of the government is shrouded in secrecy. Dominica needs a government that operates in sunlight. Sunlight is the best disinfection for corruption.

I am still unable to make any sense in the above statement.  It seem to me Blackmoore is indicating that he has instructed the police to investigate “him!”

If someone accuse me of something criminal; some crime I committed; if the allegations are not true; if I am innocent; I would have a clear case of libel. Hence that in a legal sense of the word is a civil mater; and if I wish to take action against the person who libel me; I could not go to the police and file a complaint.

A civil matter is something which must be litigated in a civil court of law, therefore the police has nothing to do with civil matters. If someone bashed my head in which is a criminal offense, and someone beside me report the matter to the police; if I do not wish to take action against the perpetrator, the police can arrest the culprit, and and prosecute without my help!

In a banana republic everything is different!

    IN HIS FAVOR

    Looked at with objectivity, likened to other persons accused of criminal wrongs, the National Security Minister has two things in his favor;

    (i) The prevailing constitutional ‘…presumption of innocence;’ and

(ii) The maxim that states, ‘…He who asserts must prove.’

Thus, no matter what the emotional public trials and verdicts may be, ‘…Blackmoore remains innocent until he is tried in a Court of law and, (a) …proved and found guilty or (b) … until he pleads guilty.’

Mr. Blackmoore, I urge you to take the necessary legal actions if this is not true because I do not see this going away any time soon or after the election is finalized.
And I will repeat. Let us be careful in our haste not to expose any innocent people in such events such as alleged victims and their family and even the family of the person on which me make a claim. Let us take the proper steps in dealing with situations such as this that will not place innocent people at risk for public scrutiny and backlash. Let us be careful the road we tread in our political campaign and analyze how this may affect people, and Dominica.

I remember the UWP saying innocent until proven guilty when it came to their own Mr. Francis. Up to a day like today, they claim his innocence, they even say negative things about the young victim, he is innocent in their eyes until he appears in a court of law and the court says that he is guilty. Well, let me say the same thing here for Mr. Blackmoore. File the suit, take the evidence and the victim to a lawyer to get charges filed. All I’m hearing is talk, let us present the facts to the court then. The last thing we want is to persecute an innocent man because of he say she say they claim, no?
