But first time Dominicans feel a small tremor man? You all seem to forget that we had a series of them in the late 90s mam. They were even prepared to evacuate belle vie Chopin. What about also reporting the 4.0 that occurred of the coast of Antigua at the same time

I Do pray that all the people in Dominica are fine. Dominican people are resilient people and they will get through the challenges that they are faced with. God Bless everyone and protect them.

This is not the time for this and may the good Lord forgive you. Rather than being concerned about your fellow Dominicans and wishing them well you find the time to insults. You need to pray because GOD don’t like evil.

Wow!! I pray all is fine. Just less than a week ago (4-6 Dec) we (ITU) held a joint forum with Dominica: Multi-stakeholder Forum on the Role of Telecommunication/ICTs for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction.

This particular forum addressed, among other hazards, Seismic activity (Volcanoes, earthquakes) and Tsunamis and Early Warning Systems. Mr. Lloyd Lynch of the UWI Seismic Research Centre / UWI DRRC gave an extensive presentation on this topic.

I just hoped we had more of our policy makers at the Forum. When regional & International organizations bring the discussion to you, always take advantage of the opportunity to have as many participants as is possible as part of our capacity building drive. It is just basic common sense in order to save on travel or other modality for training and knowledge accumulation.

These are wake up calls to action if we REALLY want to develop a country with some resilience.

OR MAYBE WE PREFER ONLY POLITICAL TRIBALISM???

This tremor, which was centred just northwest of La Plaine at 23km depth, is probably associated with the magma chamber underlying the Boiling Lake – Valley of Desolation volcanic caldera. On active volcanic islands like Dominica, these events happen from time to time. If there are many of them in the same general area over the next weeks and months, volcanic activity could follow. However, as we have seen with previous recent (since the late 1990’s) tremor clusters in Dominica – in the southwest and at Morne aux Diables – volcanic activity at surface does not necessarily follow such a tremor cluster.

3.7 alone???? Awaaa the Richter scale has issues because that felt like more than a 3.7 earthquake! 😩

      December 12, 2018

It was a 3.7, we felt it worse because it was shallow ,as in not a deep earthquake, imagine some people even heard sounds that’s caused by the vibrations from the earthquake,it was so close that’s why some even heard it
