Austrie wants more water management in Dominica

Austrie

Water Resource Minister Reginald Austrie said there should be a comprehensive water resource management program for Dominica.

He said Dominica needs the program to better protect its water resources.

Austrie told a press conference at the Government Information Service recently, that, “if you go across the country you would notice that there is a reduction in the level of water in our rivers”.

He explained that this could be a sign of the low levels of Dominica’s water.

“We need to begin to pay attention to our water resource. We need to establish an extensive water resource management program to ensure that we continue to have water. We can spend all these monies but if we don’t take care of the water then it makes no sense,” he said.

Austrie also said Dominica’s water is being abused.

“Water should be cherished. I believe in Dominica we are abusing water. We use water for all sorts of things apart from drinking and doing the basic necessities of life. I think we should be conscious of that. We will have water for our lifetime but we need to guarantee the future generations that they will have water too,” he said.

How are we abusing the water? What is it we are doing now that is different than what we did before? I think the only management needed is to stop cutting down all the trees, which is the main source for conserving our water supply. lol Maybe there are too many illegal aliens that should be deported. That would help manage the water supply.

I agree with the minister that a comprehensive water management plan is needed. Its should have been started more than 15 years ago. Better late than never.

Now that the minister has identified that there is a problem, which i agree with, I am expecting to see the plans and policies within the next few months, that his ministry is putting in place to deal with the water management issue. I am guessing he has already initiated the process.

I AGREE MR MINISTER FOR INSTANCE THERE IS TOO MUCH WATER RUNNING OFF THE BALD HEAD OF ATHIE MARTIN WHEN HE WALKS THROUGH ROSEAU ON HIS WAY TO Q-FM STUDIO. EFFORTS SHOULD BE MADE TO BOTTLE THE WATER RUNNING OFF HIS HEAD AND EXPORT IT.

BY THE WAY WHAT ABOUT ATHIE AND HIS WATER EXPORT BUSINESS ?

In the future, wars will be fought over water. It is a precious resource and will become even more so. It needs to be managed most skillfully. Deforestation, climate change can all take its toll. Some rivers flow through many countries eg the Nile .If any one country tries to exert too much control over the water it will be detrimental to all.

Isn’t he in charge of water resource management?
Why isn’t he just putting measures in place instead of using pretty words?

Who is teh Ministers’ Speech writer? He/She needs to be fired. Austri didn’t you read that before your read it? This is non-senses.

Do you know how many gallons of water flows to the ocean daily? Are you suggesting that we stop the river water flow?

“save the water for future Generation”? I wonder what you were doing while your teacher was explaining EVAPORATION, CONDENSATION etc…

We need a serious Comedy Club in DOminica. That’s my project. Too many jokes going to waist. lol

Shameful! These people are placed in position but refuse to learn a thing. You speak on water resource management Mr. Austrie and this is as deep you can go, about this can be a sign of low water level in Dominica……

Why is water level low Mr. Austrie….speak to the primary school kids out there so they can learn a thing or two from you…..

Our rivers are drying up and our sea level is rising, tell the school children why Mr. Austrie. I tell you boy, Dominicans will learn one day, if not from you Mr. Austrie but maybe from voting for you.

You all can’t even see from your finger to the nail. That’s why Dominica can’t grow. Small minded people. You all perfer the witchcraft and wickedness instead. Open their eyes Reggie and educate them.

Why all you Dominicans are so stupid. What is wrong with what the man said? Do you all know what it is to live in a society without water? After all, this is his department for now. Therefore, this should be his concern. Every darn thing for you all is politics. And aparantly, you all are crossed eye. You all have no sense of management. Should he wait when all our water supply dry up then think of what he’s going to do? How could reminding people about the invaluable importance of water be improper and boring? Or should he come and build each one of you a house, for everyone of you then he would be a wise man? I hope when all you have no water for any reason you all don’t go to him because i’ll be watching.

Reggie, if you had nothing to say you should have kept your mouth shut. There was no need for a press conference to make those utterances.
May I suggest Sir that a team be put in place to manage our water, not just surface, but ground water. How about having a hydrologist at DWASCO?

Wondering. Should I cut the Minister some slack, because I can not say this is news. Unless DNO left out most of the story, this is not news worthy. DNO too has a responsibility to publish authentic and genuine news stories for consumption, analysis and comment.. This one fails the test.

DNO what we would like to hear them talk about is the IMF report on Dominica. Secondly Reggie should tell us what the heck he was doing in trying to recruit an crooked diplomat for Dominica when that should be the ministry of foreign affair responsibility? The question is to Reggie and not Tony Astaphan.
