On Friday June 18th 2015, Fine Foods Inc, made a donation of over $3,500.00 worth of products to the Ministry of Education’s National School Feeding Programme.
Nardine Benjamin, Brand Developer for Fine Foods Inc commented that “This generous donation was part of the company’s belief in supporting the education of the youth.” The donation will help bring support to the families under the programme by providing a healthy meal.
The National School Feeding Programme supports approximately over 40 schools in Dominica. The programme aims to provide all its beneficiaries despite their economic status, with the opportunity to be at school and a hot nutritious meal daily.
A very thankful Mrs Pamela Guiste, who coordinates the programme stated that, “On behalf of the Ministry of Education and the National school feeding programme, thank you Fine Foods Inc for such generosity. Initiatives such as this one are always welcomed and this donation of Milk and Whole wheat pasta speaks highly of the efforts made by Fine Foods Inc’s interest in providing the children with healthy meals. It is good to inculcate good dietary habits in the lives of the children and at school is excellent place where learning takes place. The school feeding programme capitalizes on every opportunity to introduce the children to good nutritional habits that they can grow with.”

Lolz.. @Greens “Prices are born here and raised elsewhere”. That’s typical Fine Foods policy(most businesses in D/A) anyway cause that’s more of a good promotion than a generous initiative! I’m certain MOST of what was donated are either close to the expiry date, or it is the oldest shipment in stock so they gave it away and promoted their brand at the same time (hence the reason it’s the brand developer and not the Manager givin the donation). And yes I would know better because I used to work there…. #Kudos still to F.F.I, better than Astaphans, Whitchurch etc I believe..
Quite interesting that this, although seemingly generous, is little more than smart advertising and business acumen. First of all, the $3500.00 amount will be written off as a tax concession or as advertising. Get the kids hooked on Filiz Pasta and Linda Milk and that is what they will ask for at home. It always amuses me that a donation is presented with the items donated carefully packed on the background or, in this case, the foreground, and the claim is made that it was a “generous” initiative.
