Clear Harbor LTD (CH) on Friday announced that 27 of the employees who were made redundant as part of the company’s reorganization in August this year are being recalled by December 09, 2013.

“This is possible because CH recently signed a contract with a new client that has opened up additional areas for business. We are confident that our new client, an Insurance company, has seen value in Clear Harbor’s outstanding track record of delivering results to its partners,” the company said in a release on Friday.

CH also said it is on course to hire 250 employees by March 2014 to service the new client. “This number will surpass our original staff complement before the reorganization of our Canefield offices earlier this year,” the company said.

In September, CH axed 243 workers, 44 percent of its employees, but made clear its intention to re hire affected staff once we added new clients to its portfolio. “Re-calling the 27 staff in this initial instance honours that promise,” the company said.

CH has been operating in Dominica for eight years and it said the relationship has “blossomed into a full-fledged commitment to bringing good paying jobs to the nation and maintaining our reputation as one of the country’s biggest private sector employers.”

Don’t believe the hype people, as it’s an Old Trick In The Book – those being re-employed will all return on new contractual agreements. Companies in the Western hemisphere uses this policy to change employees’ Terms & Conditions on re-employment to by-pass the law. Therefore, my simple advice to those re-employed is to check the fine prints of this key document in detail and if you’re doing the exact job as you were doing previously, please speak to your Union rep.

A Call Center works for Clients. That is a Call Center has contracts with companies to do their work. in other words a Call Center depends on contracts to remain operating.

If a client pulls out a contract, then the Call Center needs less staff because of the lost contract. To help a Call Center keep its Clients, the employees have to work hard and do a job that satisfies the client.

The Client pays the Call Center and the Call Center pays the staff. So the staff themselves have to please not only the Call Center but also the Client and do a very good job. I know that because I worked with a Call Center who had several clients and we did lose some clients contracts and that made some of us lose our jobs.

Another reason if the Call Center Client’s Business is not doing well and have to close down or down size, it affects the Call Center.

On the other hand Call Centers are a booming business because it saves companies from hiring extra staff and can have the Call Center answer their phones, take messages and give information of the business to customers or would be customers.

Many Companies regardless of size use Call Centers. So to have Call Centers in Dominica is very good for Dominicans.

Good to see some employees recalled. That means the company got another client or a client is returning. Good news for the employees who were let go and good for the company who is recalling the staff.

    Good Luck All.

I hope that when the people are called back to work, they will realize the importance of having
and keeping a job being on time and not calling in sick. Being diligent and committed to the jobs
And for those who are in Supervisory positions will be respectful to their subordinates, So the people can remain in Dominica.

Dominica is not the only country with unemployed its a job crisis all over the world. You all are crying poverty and Dominica has the most beautiful houses. Don’t cry wolf because God is watching. The more we want the less we get.

I could’nt have said it any better. The people of our country have these great sense of entitlement.
They seem to forget that they have to earn their keep.

People of Dominica need to understand, it has nothing to do with the government. I said that when jobs were loss and I am saying as jobs are gained. If the customer is not pleased with the people working at clear harbour they will pull out. It takes two to tango and employees need to do a good job no matter what. Do what you were assigned, no one owes anyone a living. It is by the sweat of your own brow you shall ear bread.

It is not an office job. Convincing customers to purchase the product is the hardest part of the job.
In this type of job, for whatever reason, some are fortunate than others. All the same, I wish them well.

Why a you not using the brains that was given to you to think before you speak, recalling the employees haven got anything to do with the GOVT, and you could come up with that result without allowing someone else telling you otherwise by using your brains. The owners of Clear Harbour have been working behind the scene trying to get the company back in full service and that includes bringing back the layed off employees, so give the management credit where it is due.
I’m happy for those employees that were recalled and congratulation to all concern.
