The Dominica Association of Industry & Commerce (DAIC) announces the appointment of Theresa Campbell-Carbon to the position of Executive Director.

Theresa Campbell-Carbon who took up her new role effective June 22nd, 2015 is the holder of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations. She also holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, with concentrations in international economics, international law and diplomatic practice.

Mrs. Carbon brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience to the DAIC Executive Director role. She has extensive experience working within the non-profit sector in both London and New York.

A skilled researcher, she held research positions with Wall Street’s research and consulting firm Catalyst Inc. where she gathered, analyzed and presented data relating to challenges faced by Fortune 500 companies as it relates to advancing women in business.

Her work experience in the public sector includes a stint as an Information Officer with the Dominica High Commission in London. A trained negotiator, Mrs. Carbon is experienced in public sector engagement and is passionate about strengthening the relationship between the public and private sectors in Dominica.

“One of my main objectives is to champion the interests of the Association’s members towards a more robust private sector and in turn fostering economic growth”, said the new DAIC Executive Director.

Meanwhile, President of the DAIC Jeffrey Baptiste is confident that the new Executive Director will bring value to the organization as it continues to play its role in facilitating the growth and development of the country’s private sector through effective representation of the core interests of its members.

Congrats my fellow classmate and friend. I am proud of your appointment and hope that you will help enhance the commercial landscape in Dominica. Your qualifications and passion are in line with the task ahead, and I can’t wait to see the impact you will have on this organization. The challenge that you will have to overcome is working in an environment where things are not done with a level of urgency. However, you have the mindset and the know how to face those challenges. I wish you continued success in your undertaking and hope that when I visit Doninica, we will get to drink a Kibuli together. All the best to you and your amazing family.

Hello and good afternoon my people. Well I would like to congratulate Ms Carbon on her appointment to her position and by reading her qualifications she is certainly up to the task.
Our people must learn to leave Politics out of certain things and just look at the candidate qualification.

What’s that about her qualifications, Tony? Are you aware that her predecessor has a Masters Degree too? And the predecessor to the predecessor also caries a Masters in International Trade Policy? And the predecessor of the predecessor of the predecessor ……………………………….? Westay_twa_chill eh Tony!!!

“….as it continues to play its role in facilitating the growth and development of the country’s private sector through effective representation of the core interests of its members”. That should be amended to “core interests of selective members”.

Congrats Ms Theresa, however be mindful that the top job at DAIC is a REVOLVING DOOR….

Like every other position in Dominica – and from her Bio she’s not one used to settling for less, she apparently knows when it”s time to move on.

“……the top job at DAIC is a REVOLVING DOOR….” I like that statement. But hear this, Cyril: Jeffrey is saying that he is confident that the new ED will “add value to the organisation….” Do you know that Lilian Piper said the same thing when you took up the job?

Congratulations we need more women in key roles .
We hope you will be able to do your job just fully and without any oppression of any kind and from anybody.
Kindly put the LORD in front in any thing that you are about to do .

@Man kind – “Congratulations we need more women in key roles.”

We need more women in key roles just for what? To say we have more women in key roles?

How about we need more competent people in key roles eh. Dis feminist propaganda foolishness is really sickening now.

What society needs is more competent people in key roles. If the competent person for a role/job on offer happens to be a woman, then so be it; if a competent person for a role/job happens to be a man, then so be it.

Females shouldn’t just be put in roles just because they are a women. Albeit, certain job functions are performed much better by females than males and vice versa due to certain innate characteristics of either gender.

Generally though skill set and competence ought to be more determining factors in hiring somebody rather than just their gender. If a woman is the best applicant from the pool of applicants and/or best meets the requirement of the job, then she’d get the nod over others…

Who appoints the executive director of DAIC?
When was the last board meeting?
Was the appointment meeting held before or after the statement lambasting the honorable Salisbury farmers?
Did you pen that statement madame?
Do you stand by that statement?

One thing with us in Dominica we don’t like to congratulate people on there success. we must bring a bad political site to every appointment. From one Dominican to another Congratulation to you and do your best. there will be challenges but where in the world that don’t have any.
