In an effort to create greater exposure, market and generate sales of products manufactured in Dominica, on December 1st, 2015, the Dominica Manufacturer’s Association (DMA) will open the first ever BUY DOMINICA SUPERCENTER: Home of Locally Manufactured Products, a sales outlet exclusively dedicated for the marketing and sale of locally manufactured products.

The facility will be located on 33 King George V Street in Roseau and it is expected to be stocked with all products manufactured in Dominica, that meet the necessary quality standards and for which local manufacturers are willing to participate.

The BUY DOMINICA SUPERCENTER: Home of Locally Manufactured Products will be a One-Stop-Shop for all products made in Dominica and is expected to be the focal point for consumers, both nationals and visitors, who are interested in purchasing genuine Dominican products but experience difficulties in the sourcing of these products.

The facility will be managed by a management team of the executive of the Dominica Manufacturers Association and is expected to create employment for four persons at the commencement of operations and additional employment for manufacturers who will no longer be burdened with the lack of access to sales outlets.

The Dominica Manufacturers Association is a non-profit, non-government organization, whose objective is to represent the interest of Dominica’s manufacturers by creating opportunities for the sales and marketing of local products and at the same time encouraging high quality, cost effective and consistent supplies of these
products.

The Dominica Manufacturers Association is not a commercial enterprise and does not have the resources to purchase products from manufacturers nor can it guarantee the sale of the products. DMA is creating an avenue for the exposure and sale of products by undertaking the establishment of a facility exclusively for the sale of local products for which it has committed to incur costs such as rent of the building, payment of staff, utilities, advertising and other operational costs.

All manufacturers will be given access to the facility and they will benefit from all promotional activities undertaken in the various publicity campaigns. The criteria for participation are to have acceptably packaged products that meet the relevant quality standards and they should be members of the DMA.

The establishment of the BUY DOMINICA SUPERCENTER will support the sustainability of the DMA, reduce its dependence on financial assistance from other parties and boost the Dominican economy through the manufacturing sector.

    This is an excellent idea.

I see an interesting and attractive display of Dominican products. With the richness of Dominica’s soil and the productivity of its land there is the potential of a much greater output. This is something that can best be promoted by opening new avenues of sales.

It would be a good thing if Canada (my own country) would allow our people who visit Dominica as tourists to bring home a supply of Dominican products duty free. Even if they introduced a policy that allowed it for a limited time it may give Dominica a boast by encouraging sales for a while. Other countries could be asked to join in.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

We have been waiting for this to happen for so long. Often wondered why there has never been a stall set up at the bay front, when the cruise ships come in, with all local made products instead of the same old junk. We will be buying from this store. And we wish them well in this endeavour.

Big up to the DMA..great Idea that I hope will see major support from Locals, visitors and even the Government.
Try and incorporate a few imported essentials as well because ppl like to make one stop..unless the prices are significantly lower I can see ppl taking their locally manufactured items by major supermarkets like ACS , Whitchurch etc.. whilst they doing regular shopping. Consumer behaviour is a tricky subject.

A good point and something that should be considered.

It would still be great to have your own store for local products only.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist. :-P
