Director of The Dominica Social Security (DSS), Janice Jean-Jacques, has said that her organization is still on a quest to sell Marpin 2K4.

She made the announcement on state-owned DBS Radio’s Talking Point on Thursday.

“We are looking forward to divest…” she stated.

Jean-Jacques said the DSS’ investment in Marpin is a good one but she believes there are others who can do more.

“It is a good investment but there may be persons with the capacity, the ability to do more with Marpin than we are able to and so we are still looking forward to divesting…” she stated.

She said there are a “number of persons” who have expressed interest in buying Marpin and “we continue to have discussions.”

She noted that staff at the company must continue to do their work since there is nothing to report, at least for now.

“When there is something to report, we will report it to them but as of now there is nothing for us to report to them,” Jean-Jacques said.

Marpin is wholly owned by the DSS, which is a government institution.

Last year the DSS denied reports that the telecommunication company was bought by LIME.

Looks like DSS bought themselves a dead duck. Lime can easily develop their own cable service without having to load themselves with that duck unless they can acquire it cheaply for its bones only. Maybe Bob Blanchard was the smart one after all.

    ****DSS BIG MISTAKE****

“Marpin is wholly owned by the DSS, which is a government institution”.
    ………………………………………………………………..

The DSS had no business owning and controlling Marpin!! They should have only been a very minority share holder!!

DSS …………………stay with what you are “qualified” to run which is ………DSS!!

You all are in over your heads with this company!! I hope all or most of the money invested in Marpin can be recovered. That would be good news for the sake of DSS credibility, all current/future retirees and taxpayers.

    -Thanks

Why are these announcements on Goverment Depts being made on DBS.Thes are matters for the House of Assembly. To be told. But of course the house has not been convened for the new session..
When will the house be convened Prime ‘minister. These are matters for discussion not for radio talk shows.

This has been a sad mickey mouse manage company, without any road map plan. Maybe the supremo can rename the company after one the labour gods, and play chinese and cuban movies, with labour party and madam speaker commericals.

Make shares available to the public and let the people of Dominica own Marpin.

It’s not about who owns it, it’s about how it is managed…you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

How do you make it profitable, based on its existing customer-base and still maintain a quailty level of service?????

Everything this team touches is a failure. Just let MARPIN go!!!!!

Allow a good management team with excellent business sense and their own money to make it a success. The benefit with be worth it because the GOVT will be able to collect more taxes, good workers can keep their job and also gives MARPIN a better opportunity to increase its work force with talented people.

The Cable industry is a lucrative business because content is king but these companies needs a savvy management team.

So Carlisle was right all along? They try making him look like an idiot when they knew darn well he was speaking the truth? Well Labor really Kar Twavay! God is good all the time Carlisle because you are now having the last laugh. Don’t be surprised if Skerro buys Marpin through some medium because his intentions are to own the Dominican press by any means.

    Assertive, NOT Aggressive!

Why is Dominica offloading its bit of silver?

This will only make the rich richer and leave the poor even poorer.

What the hell is happening to our beloved country? Why are we allowing the destroyers to continue their campaign of destructive?

I hope from this time onward, when Carlyle Breaking News JohnBaptiste speaks, Dominicans will listen. They tried to hide the truth, they tried to make Carlyle look bad. I wonder who are the jokers now. The Director publicly denied the sale of Marpin, re DNO 30th December 2014, therefore, the Director should be fired for issuing wrong information. One wonders, what other pertinent information that is being hidden from the people of Dominica by DSS.

Skeritt, the Director, all them people in red, mem bete mem pouil.

      • January 29, 2015

The color do not have much to do with it business is business the problem is they don’t have any business sense or plans and so their best decision is to try to sell Marpin, then the Government and the PM should get out because their a persons who would do a better job.

      Doc Love,

Carlise said it was sold, that was false, it was always up for sale so he had no news He was seeking cheap popularity.

He said it was sold it was not, it is for sale.

Marpin rightly belong to Ron Abraham, the alternative is to simply give it back to him! No matter how many times Marpin changes hands, it will never become a profitable entity; unless it is returned to Ron

That is the bottom line, it will continue to loose money as long the evil perpetrated on Abraham is unsettled, and not corrected: that is a premonition!

    • Jon Carson
      January 29, 2015

Mr. Telemaque I support that move 100%.
