DYBT to receive $1-million from gov’t to promote youth entrepreneurship

dybtPrime Minister and Minister of Finance, Roosevelt Skerrit has stated that in a matter of weeks, the government will make $1-million available to the Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT), in order to promote entrepreneurship among Dominican youth.

Speaking at a signing ceremony for the establishment of two special loan facilities, on Monday, Skerrit said that this is a means of creating sustainable employment, and growing the country’s economy.

“We will be providing to the Youth Business Trust in a matter of weeks $1-million, to use to guarantee loans for young people who want to get into businesses,” he said.

Skerrit advised musicians, especially, to take advantage of the opportunity to upgrade their musical product.

“We made a commitment to the $1-million, and within weeks, that will be available to the musicians, the artists, to use to buy equipment,” he articulated. “There are a lot of young people I have met who have exceptional talent.”

In his Budget speech, the Prime Minister made mention of an allocation of $1-million specifically for support to the music industry.

In May, the government financed training for musicians and artistes, in collaboration with the Association of Music Professionals (AMP), in support of AMP’s effort to professionalize the music industry in Dominica, with a view to making it a significant earner of foreign exchange, incomes and employment.

Skerrit revealed that further training and assistance will be provided for the initiative.

Meanwhile, Skerrit divulged that the fifty percent (50%) increase in seniors’ monthly allowance, which was announced during his presentation on the 2016/2017 National Budget, will take effect on September 1, 2016.

Seniors will now receive $300 from the government.

Somewhat relatedly, local entrepreneurs interested in learning more about raising money through crowdfunding might consider applying to take this free course sponsored by the World Bank: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CMCEMOOC

Sorry to go off base like this. But why I am getting DBS online with no problems, but I simply cannot get Q95 for the last two days? Is it being jammed on the net?

Q95 FM frequency spectrum is being jammed – definitely!!!

You know what this signifies… Gov’t is loosing the battle against Freedom Of Speech, as it just can’t stifle out the flow of information coming from D/ca about the very poor management of D/ca’s economy by “ONE MAN” – who is inept to the core.
