As part of its thrust to maintain the integrity and security of the EC currency, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has upgraded the security thread on all banknotes, with the exception of the $5.00 banknote.
The update to the security thread in the notes is in keeping with the advancement in technology to prevent counterfeiting.
The new security thread therefore makes it much more difficult for counterfeiters and makes it easier for persons to detect counterfeit notes.
The thread also has built-in machine readability and will not affect cash machines such as ATMs, counting and vending machines.
The E.C currency is one of the chief catalyst in the movement for integration.
after being independent for umting of years, why are we still entertaining liezabeth pic on our dollars, time to our bad memories behind and be independent black and proud human beings.
Dwight your money is highly inflationary and a debt instrument u need to burn this banana republic money and demolish the ECCB which is destroying our economy we can use our own money like the Athenian drachma, GIVE US SOUND MONEY NOW!
We should replace the Queens photo with that of OECS luminaries. Why we hold on to such vestiges of the colonialism is beyond me
DNO, can you confirm information circulating on the internet that effective sometime soon, the ECCB will remove the 1 cent and 2 cents pieces in circulation?
Our currency is long over due for a security / technical improvement. Why is the $5.( dollar) bill being left out of this very important make over? Don’t we have great eastern Caribbean/ O.E.C.S. heroes whose faces could adorn some of our bank notes? Just curious.
Why do u think that a person doing counterfeit notes would waste their time to make counterfeit $5.00 notes? They would rather go for the larger notes. I guess that’s the reason for leaving out the $5.00 notes.
