More than 30 fisherfolk in Dominica have begun gaining the expertise that will pave the way for profitability and efficiency in their business.
That’s because they are being trained on the basic principles of business management.
The workshop which began here on Monday will end on Friday and is said to be vital to the continued survival of the fishing industry on the island.
Fisheries Offices Norman Norris says the workshop is also geared at strengthening fisheries management.
“The participants are Dominican fisherfolk, fisheries regulators and fishers cooperative members who were armed with the tools and practical guidelines into basic principles of business management, using internet and computer technologies,” Norris said.
According to him, the workshop will allow for some degree of organization and growth of fisherfolk and improvement of the livelihood of fishers in Dominica.
The facilitator is Reggie Severin and the workshop is being held at the Roseau Fisheries Complex.
