Grand Bay Credit Union expands office space

Staff of the Grand Bay Credit Union has been told that their responsibilities will expand as they embrace a new office space.

The new $1.4 million Grand Bay Credit Union building was opened Sunday, and Senior Examiner at the Financial Services Unit Arthurton Nesty told staff to be on guard for issues of money laundering and terrorism activities.

“We’ve got this dispensation where we’ve got to adhere to measures put in place to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism activities, and no matter where you are located in this world those responsibilities still fall on your shoulders as a financial  institution,” Nesty stated.

He also called on members of the Grand Bay Credit Union to continue supporting the institution to ensure its survival.

Parliamentary Representative for the Grand Bay constituency Justina Charles was also on hand for the opening of the new Grand Bay Credit Union. She told residents the onus is on them to “protect and preserve” the institution.

you sound like at least one part of your body needs the exercise, imagine if your body is as lazy as your mind, you would then only be a good for nothing lump of crap. walk down to the credit union, withdraw some cash, buy some books, read these books, then instead of cursing up you might actually be capable of saying something constructive, and to see you even wrote you full name for people to see who the J.A really is.

MR. NESTY NEEDS TO KNOW THAT THE FSU SHOULD NOT ONLY BE MONITORING THE CREDIT UNIONS AND THE BANKS BUT INSTEAD EVERYWHERE MONEY IS BEING USED, LIKE THE INLAND REVENUE, THE PORTS, THE INSURANCE COMPANIES, THE INSTITUTIONS OF HIRE PURCHASES, MONEY-GRAM, WESTERN UNION, EVERY INSTITUTION WHERE MONEY IS BEING USED.

Yes Mr.A.Nesty is very correct, with all the talk of Money Laundering and the Financing of Terorism Activities in the world today, we in Dominica must be very carefull as to how we position our financial service sector…Are our regulators well equiped, trained and have the resources for example legislation to combat those found guilty of such crimes.. Are our policy makers aware of those happenings, or just waiting for us to be blacklisted for them to make the first move..People let us get up and smell the coffee..Mr Nesty has given a green light, let us use the message from this messeanger and position ourselves and country to combat Money Laundering and save our country from the Black List….

Thanks to the senior Examiner At the FSU..
Ohh, Just for knowledge..Do we know what is the Financial Services Unit (FSU)…. Mr .Nesty I need you to continue educating me and us….
