Internationally renowned speaker featured at WEL retreat

Delices, Dominica: Internationally renowned Venture Capitalist Greg Horowitz will be the featured speaker of the public forum of the emerging entrepreneurship retreat on Friday, 19th November, 2010 at 10:30 at Jungle Bay Resort & Spa.

The public forum is the closing session of an entrepreneurship retreat sponsored by Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT) and Waitukubuli Entrepreneurs Leve (WEL), an NGO dedicated to promoting youth entrepreneurship. This presentation will explore some avenues that are available to foster entrepreneurial growth in Dominica.

Greg Horowitt is the Executive Director of Global CONNECT, a think tank based at the University of California, San Diego that has developed successful research and technology clusters in over 20 countries.

Greg is also the co-founder and Managing Director of T2 Venture Capital, a venture fund. Greg was formerly the Interim Executive Director of CONNECT, which helped launch over 300 companies in San Diego that have, collectively, raised over $600 million in early-stage funding and achieved over $10 billion in market capitalization.

Mr. Horowitt sits on the boards of numerous of technology companies and non-profit organizations.  He has personally been involved with and/or mentored more than 200 companies.

His visit is being sponsored by the US Embassy in Bridgetown Barbados.

The general public is invited to this event.

    @mouth of the south: let us not forcus on the limitations or the obstacles. loans are much easier to get if you join the Youth Division’s entrepreneurship community or work through your credit union. you need held doing a business plan? i can help you.

    land/ properties in any town are expensive.

    Excellent!!!!! We need to encourage all to be self sustainable, to be independant, to not ever wait on our PM’s Red Clinic to get money for a daily bread!!

    well thats good,,,,but in d.a it so hard to get a loan to start a business,,,,,alot of people have the entrepreneur spirit,,,but even when u have all the requirements they squeeze just cause they don’t want u to open a business,,,,especially the young folks,,,young men n women r getting pressured,,no wonder so much of them leaving d/ca,,,,,but the same elders will come on t.v n radio n say how young people not doin this n that,,,,,another thing is that land in Roseau is too damn expensive,,,we have fallen into the belief that it a town n land always expensive in urban areas,,,yes dats true but people look at roseau,,,,what about roseau dat so exclusive the lands so expensive,,,tell me,,,,most people who wanna open biz not tryna open by some hotel or supermarket but a lil spot probably in pottersville for e.g,,,,,,all these tings keeping people behind now after that u have the port duties,,,,is like so many factors @ play that preventing an entrepreneur drive in d/ca
