As a frequent traveler both regional and international I have come to understand the workings of how airlines operate…when I speak of this things it’s from my experience with airlines..you ppl make it sound like liat is the only airline with high prices..when seaborne just came in they were offering fares for 266 us one way.. During the summer a flight to San Juan on seaborne was $2600 dollars where as liat was $1500..the thing is every Dominican is an expert on matters they don’t understand..you guys need travel to international destinations maybe then u won’t criticize without basis the very airline u were begging to return after the storm in the first place.

I tried calling Liat for 2 days re a connecting flight, after purchasing a ticket for Guadeloupe on the Ferry. I had to find my way back to work, and booked my flight to Barbados from Guadeloupe. It was IMPOSSIBLE to reach anyone with the number given by Witchurch. LIAT SHOULD HAVE HAD REPRESENTATIVES IN DOMINICA TO ASSIST PEOPLE, rather than calling to Antigua . VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE LIAT.

In order to win a battle one must know who the real enemy is. Otherwise, one is shooting in the dark and often hitting those not the least bit responsible for the mayhem. In our current battle the real enemy is Liat. The first thing I want to bring up is that Liat’s reason is not true reason. It does not seek the truth but only inarticulate answers, shameless resolutions to conflicts. Are we going to step back and let Liat regulate dogmatism? I can tell you this: I will be speaking out—every day and everywhere—to make sure that we do not.

Liat has been taking over society’s eyes, ears, mind, and spirit. Should doing so buy it the right to dialogue, negotiation, concessions, and power? I say no because it is widely believed that Liat should exercise greater judiciousness when extolling caciquism. That is true, but it tells only half the story. The other half of the story is that in order to solve the big problems with Liat we must first understand these problems, and to understand…

liat is the worst… the caribbean leaders are investing in all the wrong places. It’s about time liat get some serious competition. And why is it there is a flight from Bdos to Dominica but non from Dominica to Bdos.. COME ON LIAT…..

DNO, can you please investigate the very recent increases in ticket costs by LIAT for tickets to and from Dominica. This happened post-Erika, and I’m wondering why is it after such a tragic and traumatic event in our country’s history that LIAT would stoop so low to be price gouging at this time.

i can confirm that liat or somebody is not telling the truth. my adopted aunt who lives in bardados called me an hour ago and said that liat wants her to pay an extra $800 to rebook a flight she made about a month ago to come to dominica. her original flight was suppose to be in the fist week of September and she had already paid her ticket in full. so these liat people are reporting one thing and doing another. somebody needs to do something about that. liat is lying.

It is no fault of LIAT, what they are doing fair. It what is referred to as an act of nature.

I do not agree Doc. Whilst it is true that LIAT could not fulfill its contracts to carry these passengers through and Act of God i.e. tropical storm Erika it does not automatically entitle them to keep the monies paid by their clients in expectation of such service. In fact, such customers are not even obliged to take an alternative flight, subject to availability, if it does not suit their purpose. It would be wrong for LIAT to benefit from this disaster by making clients forfeit their money if they can not- or decline to make use of LIAT’s alternative offer. It is portrayed as if LIAT is doing the affected people a favour but in truth they are benefiting if they are pocketing money without rendering the appropriate consideration.

LIAT needs to stop this nonsense they doing to us, especially with flights that are connected to Dominica. What rebooking they talking about? Don’t they think the majority of persons that had a booking to fly to or from Dominica 20 days ago made other arrangement? Rebooking should just be an option that passengers should have because of Erica but should not be the only option as indicated by communique. What they should be talking about now is a 100% refund to everyone since, they could not serve their customers.
I remember sometime on Wednesday the PM indicated that LIAT had informed him of the reopening of the airport, though that announcement was misleading, since later that same day LIAT confirmed that flights would resume on Friday. The statement from the PM would indicate that he and LIAT seem to have a good relationship, and I suggest that this is a situation the PM should take up with LIAT since a non refund will cause visitors to distrust LIAT and will hurt local tourism

LIAT acting like a Chinese shopkeeper. Why can’t they simply give a refund? They accepted payment for a service they were unable to render, not necessarily through a fault of theirs own but it certainly is not the fault of the customers either. whose money they gladly received and are still in possession of. Not all people want a credit note. They are entitled to have their money returned.

People u need to do some research before coming on here and spread bad info..when u book, through travel, agencies and other online services but not directly with liat through its website or ticket office liat cannot give u a refund if u are unable to travel…u are suppose to go,back to ur travel agency..liat only gets paid after the customer has travelled when booked through a travel agent or other third parties…so if u don’t travel liat does not receive payment..how do u then expect the to refund monies they never received? There is an option to purchase travel insurance stop playing cheap and spend the extra $10 U.S. The insurance is for scenarios like these..

My friend booked directly through liat wasn’t able to travel and his account was credit the cost of the ticket..

        September 19, 2015

I can not believe that carcon. The travel agent acts as LIAT’s legal agent and the principal, LIAT is responsible. Are you telling me that if I book a ticket with Whitchurch and I do not make the journey it is not LIAT that keeps the money but Whitchurch? If that is so I would advise any travelers not to book through agents but with the airline direct, using a credit card. Cut out the agent and their commission and LIAT have less excuse not to reduce their ticket prices.

Dno , can you get some schedule information form Seabourne for us please

    • September 18, 2015

Has WINAIR or SEABORNE set up their system at douglas-charles? If not you will have a while to wait.

      • Tjebe fort
        September 19, 2015

Doc if they wait to set it up at Douglas Charles it will never happen. That airport does not exist. If they try it at Melville Hall (DOM) they may be lucky.

      September 18, 2015

Also for Winair please. I hope they keep that service in- & out of Canefield and don’t let LIAT sabotage it.

This announcement by LIAT did not go far enough. They made provision for those who want to rebook, but said absolutely nothing about persons who bought tickets but cannot travel before the October 2, 2015 deadline, or are not even thinking of traveling to Dominica. The announcement should address an unconditional refund, since LIAT insurance will definitely have to come in to deal with their loss.

    • Titiwi
      September 18, 2015

There is no “material loss” to LIAT since they have not performed the service for which they were paid. The loss is all on the side of the passengers, whose money the airline took but were prevented from flying as scheduled.

      • Da massive
        September 21, 2015

I’ll repeat when passengers book through travel agency liat only gets paid after the passengers travel…therefore if the passenger does not travel ,liat does not get paid…if u want to prove my point book, through an agency then call liat to change ur ticket…their response will be u need to,make changes with the agency u made the booking..
The same goes for British airways,JetBlue,American Airlines, air canada, west jet just to name a few..
