Secretary Treasurer of the Waterfront and Allied Workers Union Kertiste Augustus says the four LIAT employees in Dominica who will be made redundant at the end of July, will receive severance packages.
On Monday, LIAT management and unions representing workers finalized a deal after several months of negotiations over the closure of the airline ticketing offices in several countries.
“The computation of the package will be on the basis of one month pay for each year of service. This is superior to what we have in the laws of Dominica. If there is any other outstanding matters in terms of payment for overtime, vacation leave and through pension. All of this will be done when there is face to face discussion with LIATT officials,” he said.
Notice has already been given to the staff members.
