ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, June 30, 2011 – LIAT wishes to advise that its Antigua-based ground staff returned to work Thursday after a two-day work stoppage.
Corporate Communications Manager Mr. Desmond Brown said that the dispute with the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union, which represents the workers, has been referred to the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Commissioner and a meeting is scheduled between the parties on Friday July 01.
LIAT’s flight schedule was not affected by the work stoppage.
On the issue of the late payment of salaries for the month of June, LIAT confirmed that the processing of salaries for all employee groups had now been done.
Leeward Island Air Transport should change that name to include the Windward Islands and others. Maybe CAT, Caribbean Air Transport.
