LIME fires back at Digicel

The CEO dismisses Digicel’s claims as having no substance

CEO of LIME, Martin Roos on Monday dismissed as having “no substance” claims by Digicel that some of its consumers are being unfairly charged because of LIME’s call handling.

“There is absolutely no substance to Digicel’s claims about overcharging, and we will be communicating this to the regulators,” Roos said in response to Digicel’s allegations.

Last Friday Digicel said it had asked the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) to launch an investigation into the matter after the company “detected unusual calling patterns to LIME numbers across 12 of LIME’s Caribbean markets and launched an investigation which discovered that consumers may be improperly charged for calls to certain LIME numbers.”

“Despite persistent efforts to work with LIME to rectify the situation and multiple assurances from LIME that the situation has been corrected, Digicel continues to find intermittent examples of the issue continuing in various LIME markets in the Caribbean,” the company stated. “As such, Digicel has lost confidence in LIME’s assurances that the issue has been resolved and customer’s credit is no longer being taken in error.”

But Roos said Digicel claims were resolved as early as January 2014.

“Any charges made in error have been immediately corrected by LIME, as part of usual settlement practices between ourselves and other operators,” he said. “This is simply mischief making by Digicel, which will potentially mislead both their customers and ours and take attention away from the fact that LIME has better value propositions in the market.”

The CEO also said “LIME stands for transparency and respect in our pricing.”

LIME has serious issues and we are going through to much with them, they are very, very unreliable. I have had several experiences where i was dissatisfied, when i called some all the way in St Lucia is answering and giving no assistance. LIME needs a serious injection and Mr Roos must be aware of this. Get yourselves together. I strongly agree with Digicel,an investigation needs to be launched.

Come on Mr. Roos. Is the same Lime that advertising now for people that are delinquent in paying their bills to forgive them 80% of their debt if they pay up. What does that say to people, who pay on time? You guys too desperate for money. Stop financing all these jump-up festivals and reduce our bills instead.By the way, does your offer of wrting off debt also apply to govt. your major share holder, if they owing Lime?

I concur. When i heard the ad for debt forgiveness to ppl who don’t/didn’t pay their bills on time I’m wondering “what about those of us who do pay our bills on time?”. I don’t get the logic for rewarding those who don’t abide by the bill payment rules and deadlines.

And I’m a LIME customer. I got their internet(which I pay on time and sometimes in advance)and prepaid phone service.
