Executive Director of the National Development Foundation of Dominica (NDFD) Cletus Joseph, says a major trade expo dubbed “Creole in the streets,” is expected to expose some 70 of its small and micro business clients to the public.
The event which is taking place on Great Marlborough Street showcases clients in the field of photography, catering services, nail parlours, providers of soap and other natural products, seamstresses, clothing and shoes stores, food and beverages, to name a few.
The expo began at 8:00 am and will end at 8:00 pm today (Wednesday).
“This expo this morning has a number of objectives,” Joseph said. “One of them is to create an awareness of the high quality of products available locally, to create marketing and advertising opportunities for small and micro businesses and to create the opportunity to secure orders from customers.”
He urged members of the diaspora who are visting Dominica to continue promoting locally produced items.
“We also want those visiting diasporas that you can also create that link so that when you return to your place of abode, you can also promote the high quality products that you see here and seek to create marketing opportunities for them,” he said.
He said the NDFD wants to develop the export potential of those small and micro businesses.
He encouraged Dominicans to get on board with the NDFD and think of innovative ideas and products that still have that “distinct Dominican flavour.”
From 2:00 pm, there will have an entertainment segment which will include musical entertainment and various cultural performances from Tibwa, Gutter Jing Ping Band, Tradibelle, Paix Bouche Cultural Group, Gutter Lapo Kabwet, among others.
