Amen to that. Try adding Puerto Rico and Antigua next. Unfortunately right now it is a French based route that they are instituting. DA is probably only included because it is along the pathway.

    • October 8, 2011

Who wouldwant to sit on a boat for soo long like cargo when I can travel on LIAT, American Eagle or CAL give me a break. I am not a box of bannanas. Dominicans have been treated like cargo too much.

The French is refusing entry to a Dominican owned Fast Ferry which is soon to be lunched—–I say if no Dominica Ferry to the French islands then NO more French ferry to Dominica;our government need to take a firm stand.

1/ I doubt the French would refuse access to a Dominican Ferry provided of course it is sea worthy.
2/ Why link a Dominican ferry to the French islands when there are now already 2 on these routes. Why not have the Dominican ferry sail on unexisting routes (Antigua, St Maarten, Barbados….)

Entering the French market routes for a Dominican ferry would be a very big mistake :

      – It will not take enough customers from the existing market and competition to survive,
      – It will take enough customers from Express des Iles for them to reduce their sailings, and will eventually cancel Dominican stops

      Everybody will be crying.

      Very bad idea ..

finally more options to travel.. now as for expanding the option is always open to have an intra regional ferry. it may not be cost effective to run a fast ferry service but if you were to research you would see that there are larger ferries that are ble to make the regional run

Well boy it would seem that it is Federal Maple and Federal Palm in a faster body I hope – that will just be great!!

what is not fair is that there are dominicans sitting of huge sums of money and do not see it fit to invest in such a thriving sector. you think is two tickets the hucsters buying in a year plus other travellers.

I think they should try to have a ferry service from Antigua & Barbados to give us an alternative to flying liat.

I love this.If this happens, I know that LIAT will be lowering their fares

First time you write something that making sence. :-D

    • October 7, 2011

You guys are soo foolish, The waves that the ferries sail on are worse than the winds that LIAT fly on. When the seas are high, the ferries would not be able endorse you an airline ticket, all in all, you’ll still be stranded in Dominica or on some other island for weeks nwhile LIAT will move their passengers way in time. What we need are sea borne airplanes that can land on the sea. The caribbean is to vulnerable for Airlines to operate and you guys are soo blind to see that. Dominican are naion that like to hold malice ove simple things rather than being understanding. Sometmes i’m just ashmed of your thinking, we make the whole caribbean laugh at us when we make silly comments at the airports.

      • Garçon a la Maison
        October 7, 2011

You mentioning about the danger of waves and you are advocating for ” sea planes”. You need to broaden your thinking! A regularly scheduled ferry service from the other islands, along with air access is a great thing for the pocket of the individual, the Country and the companies.

      • October 7, 2011

I do’t see the reason why Dominicans re mixing air service with sea service? If there are tropical depressions we still going to suffer. We really need options out of Dominic to see that no only LIAThas problems. Dominicans should be impressing on Government for an International Airport to see that larger airlines have more problems than LIAT. i DONT CARE WHO HATE MY COMMENTS BUT no serice can compete with LIAT.
