New LIAT services between Dominica and St. Maarten

liat1LIAT has added four new services per week between Dominica and Saint Maarten.

LI 331 is scheduled to depart Dominica at 11:05 am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in St. Maarten at 12:05 pm.

The return service is scheduled to depart St. Maarten at 3:05 pm, arriving in Dominica at 4:05 pm.

The airline also announced that it has terminated two pilots charged with “blatantly disregarding instructions from the company’s Flight Operations Department and flying an aircraft to VC Bird International Airport just hours before the recent passage of tropical storm Gonzalo.:

“This decision to terminate followed a full internal investigation of the incident during which the pilots were represented, LIAT’s Chief Executive Officer, David Evans, said. “The Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA) has repeatedly called for LIAT’s Management to take action against indiscipline and we are doing just that. The company is committed to improving its service delivery to the public and will continue to take appropriate action as required from time to time.”

I support any connection from St Maarten because many major airlines land in St. Maarten. LIAT, we need a 6pm flight from St. Maarten. That was most international flights will get a connection. Guaranteed same-day connections from most major airlines will be a godsend for our tourism industry.

Does Skerrit use LIAT himself when he goes on his frequent trips, that’s what I would like to know. He says he put our money into that airline to give us more say so he should use it, just like we if he has confidence in it.

Dominicans should not fall for this ploy. This act shows what happens when hard working conscientious people value their efforts and vote with their collective wallets. Dominicans in particular, have been treated like “Dirt” by LIAT in Antigua for decades.

This move was designed to simply compete with WINAIAR. Dominicans need to continue utilizing this route to their advantage. LIAT, like every other going concern is in business to earn a profit. Their customer service and lost baggage is simply unacceptable. We need to keep up the pressure and continue traveling via WINAIR.

Good riddance to the foolery at V.C. Bird International. Go WINAIR!!!!!

You can do the same with Winair, and better. Winair give you something to eat and drink on their plane and won’t lose you luggage.

There is one reason and one reason only LIAT added these flights, and it is typical of LIAT. They are competing with WINAIR and will keep prices low, if they drive WINAIR out then they raise prices and give you the same terrible service, Fly WINAIR, on time, good service and they do not lose bags. Also they partner with Dominica on specials. Nice try LIAT.

Liat needs to get its act together and stop think that we as a Caribbean people should receive less than what we pay for. in this day and age the fares to travel is too high that soon it is going to be a luxury to fly rather than anything else. this has got to stop where the company says they are not making a profit yet still paying managers tens of thousands of dollars a month and still they are not producing. I believe is time we make the top management smaller cause they are useless if u asked me.

A waste of time LIAT. What we need are connecting flights INTO Dominica arriving after 7:00PM. That’s to service the overseas flights arriving in St Martin, Barbados etc.

WHY DO WE HAVE TO CONTINUE OVER-NIGHTING? We had that beat with flight 524 out of Barbados. Bring back flight 524!

The sacking of two pilots is a godsend for LIAT, since they will be operating with 2 fewer aircraft ( a reduction from 11 to 9). I”m afraid these two officers presented them with a ready made excuse to start cutting the number of pilots required for a smaller fleet.

LIAT is only doing this to force WINAIR/AIR ANTILLES out of the Dominica-St MARTIN-GUADELOUPE route.

    A very dirty company.

Thank God our International airport will start soon!

what has become of BVI?? Liat needs to lower their ticket prizes before they get into competition. i am really scared of Winair, but Liat fare is the scariest of them all.

This is predatory and clearly targeted at the existing service provided by Winair. If LIAT use their ATR 42 on their services it will be a straight fight but expect LIAT to use their govt. influence to curtail competition. To date I prefer Winair, not least because they have interlining agreements with the major international airlines enabling passengers to check their luggage straight through to destination. Secondly, Winair provide a real, inclusive in-flight service, an unheard off luxury at LIAT.
I hope that both airlines will be allowed to compete on a level playing field and that LIAT is not allowed to establish a monopoly because, we the paying public will be the losers.

LIAT, if you want to get into my good books, you should start flying to Jamaica. In the summer of this year you had your first flight to Haiti. Jamaica is only “next door” from there – You should consider this….

LIAT must stop taking Dominicans for fools. Here they are adding four (4)r flights from Dom to SXM but only one from SXM to DOM? Yes LIAT, leaving Dominica will be ok, but coming in to Dominica will continue to be a problem. Furthermore, how are you going to help us when you closed one of our main hubs from Dominica to SJU, where we had a direct daily flight? With Christmas coming those of us that leave in the US are stock because we have no flights and what is available is asking us to remain bankrupt to fly on them. LIAT is nonsense and their actions are further proof that the $8 million dollars Skerrit gave them was a very bad investment.

The inability of some of us Dominican to comprehend simple English never cease to amaze me…the flights goes direct 4 days a week..it also returns to dominica on those said days..learn to red and understand…..no wonder skerrit keep taking u guys for fools…

8 million dollars?? Madness….skerrit never gave liat 8 million dollars my friend….ask him when last he attended a shareholder board meeting??? Anything st Vincent ,Antigua and Barbados want they get. Cuz they a shareholders..dominica wants the extra flights but guess what no money no love…..DNO find out from skerrit and or liat the truth behind that 8 million dollars….

What happened to the night flights into DA from St Martin & Barbados?

    • Big stuff
      December 1, 2014

1.Skerrit didn’t give them the 8 million dollars as promised….
2.theres a high ratio of cancelled flights due to high winds during the dec to mar season and liat is left with huge hotel bills..

Liat put it those night flights at the request of the government because they were under the impression the 8million dollars was forthcoming…
Guess liat got tired of waiting and now has got a CEO with ballzzz so goodbye to night flights….so in essence blame skerrit for the disappearance of those flight…

Yes LIAT! Because we are having straight flights from SM with WINAIR you are trying to cut the competition. SHAME

Are u aware that wii air has cancelled a number of its weekday flights between dominica and st Maarten?? They usually fly on weekends now so liat has stepped up to fill the void??? Win air and Bgi airlines are seasonal my friend….when’s it’s slow they pull out when it’s busy they come back…

      • Not True
        December 1, 2014

That is not true. Winair continues to fly during the week as well. Only for one month they reduced to weekends only simply because loads were poor. It’s business. They aren’t supported by governments such as LIAT is. Now Winair is flying during the week again. Winair is a much better choice as they provide direct flights, codeshare with Air France and most importantly Winair gives inflight meal service and drinks! Sorry but LIAT needs to step it up.

      December 1, 2014

U forgetting they suspended the operations agent while, investigations were being done? The pilots did not get clearance to fly to Antigua…they deliberately waisted time for their own selfish reason….they wanted to stay Antigua with family during the storm…well I guess they have enough time to spend with family now….for too long these pilots have been selfish….they get away with too much..u have to put ur foot down and say enough is enough.
