PM Skerrit urges farmers to take advantage of AID Bank loan facility

Skerrit said the facility gives farmers access to working capital

Prime Minister Roosevelt is urging farmers in Paix Bouche and Dos D’ane to take advantage of the loan programme at the Dominica Agricultural Industrial and Development Bank (AID)Bank.

According to Skerrit, his government has placed $10-million at the AID Bank at an interest rate of three percent, with a grace period of six months to benefit farmers.

“I am urging the farmers to take advantage of this opportunity,” he said, while addressing the 18th Paix Bouche, Dos D’ane Village Council Inauguration earlier this week.. “It is an opportunity for you to have access to working capital because most of us who farm, we have some challenges.”

He continued,“One, the payment of farm labour and two, the procurement of inputs, and we are providing you with an interest, with an interest rate of three percent at the AID Bank to be able to finance your agricultural pursuits.”

Skerrit stated further that government has made an amendment to the loan agreement with the AID Bank.

“Because what we found out was that a number of farmers who need recertification, they need to have proper facilities on the farms,” Skerrit explained. “We are now allowing the banana farmers to access the loans to be able to build those sheds and make themselves meet the requirements for certification by Winfresh.”

The farmers have to take LOANS and the parasites gets free money :!:

First things first Punjab PhD go fix the roads which give farmers access to their farms; give them duty free concession on their vehicles and then they will take advantage of the AID Bank loan facility and better yet there is so much CBI monies going around for your ”mouton batallie” possie that it would be easier to give it to the hard working farmers of this country who for years had supported the Dominican economy.

This is an indirect form of encouraging suicide Skerrit…The little bit that the farmers grow cannot sell ,the majority spoils or should be shared to family and friends instead of loosing every thing .you are asking them to take loans? You are pure and simply wicked. The farmer who will take your advise will end up with nothing except tears to cry ,broken families and loss of lives because certainly some will take their own lives..

Why didn’t you do the same for the Tourism Sector? This divide and rule style of politicking you’re practicing on the Private sector will only fail Dominica. Here you’re giving Million of Dollars of Passport monies to the Tourism sector to build Hotels upon Hotels and you’re asking Farmers to pay their way out of this Argricultire catastrophe.

Only one with a lack vision thinks that way.

I guess some people do not like to borrow money which, of course, has to be paid back within a certain period. Do they fear their crops will not grow and sold? Why do they hesitate to take advantage of the loan opportunity?

    • Only from the mind of an idiot such thoughts could be deduced!

The gospel truth is you should go after Skerrit and his corrupt cabal labour government. When are you gonna get it that this country is at a crippling stage, under this inept Skerrit. Using your own words:, you really are an: “You are the idiot, mean, troublemaker and always making yourself look as one…..”, that blind supporter that you are of Skerrit and his corrupt cabal.
Question, for Skerrit`s blind idiot: “When will you cease your ignorant and debasing comments so that God will bless you and grace you to learn respect, intelligence and communication skills?”
Answer: When Skerrit and his corrupt government get the hell out of office, and go before the courts to answer questions like the Bin and Fertilizer bobols, the Passport fiasco, we need answers and all those fake diplomats on our country` name. So you and Skerrit, go to hell, go to hell, it is our business to question corruption.

    January 20, 2017

Looking for sympathy from farmers and their families? Skerritt\’s incompetent DLP regime has crippled the agricultural sector, thereby impoverishing the farmers and their families. But think of it. It is a strategy to get you poor or poorer, ensure your standards of living decreases, gets worse, so that you would come on bended knees, begging him, his cabal. Total control. Deepening mental enslavement.

While Skerritt changed our Laws in Parliament, to facilitate giving the foreigner, Range Development, 15 ACRES from our CABRITS NATIONAL PARK, he now talks about farmers, accessing LOANS. Farmers are now poorer than ever, thanks to Skerritt DLP Gov\’t.? Where are the 2 boats to transport their produce? Where are the Markets?

Selling passports, ORDINARY and DIPLOMATIC, is Skerritt\’s Plan for National Development. Farmers, out of it.

There are no markets, no external contacts, when you fly with your big crew with nice devious passports do you take our product to sell and promote for markets. We understand the motive, certainly we do. We will leave you in the hands of Hon Linton, Counsellor Gabriel Christian, Hon. Spags John, Hon. Agriculture is of no use to them so please farmers don’t get trapped or you will end up in the red clinic.

Skerit have you found sustainable markets for these Farmesrs. Where will they sell the produce and to whom, they need this pertinent information to allow them to make such calculated risks. Without Money coming in these farmers won’t be able to pay back the loans once again beautiful words a smoke screen without making the real picture available. How will they pay back the loans , have you considered this… horse before the cart strategy…

  35. That is another display of Skerrit’s ridiculous Carpaud (Crapo) silly mentality. Three percent (3%) interest may sound great, but in order for the repayment of the loan to take place, if one is in Farming, a crop must be produced.

What type of crops can any farmer guaranty will be ready within six month, to be sold in time to start repaying the loan? Where is the market for the agricultural product they may produce? If we are talking about Bananas, that will not happen. if we are talking about root crops, it is insane for Skerrit to wish in six months anybody will be in a position to repay the loan.

Mind you he did not say (6 month) to start paying back. And by the way I find it strange that he is displaying ignorance about giving farmers six month grace to pay the loan. However, he has not informed the nation if the money he gave the trio he claimed to build Hotels, is a loan; a grant (free money), and how much grace time he gave them to repay the amount, and at what interest!
