PWC demonstrates; holds ‘successful meeting’ with gov’t

pwc workersEmployees of the Public Work Corporation (PWC) took the streets on Monday to air their grievances on a number of issues.

They met with prime minister Roosevelt Skerrit, and a government delegation in a meeting which has been described as “successful.”

The prime minister promised to pay all outstanding debts to the PWC once the amount is verified.

General secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU), who is representing the workers, Thomas Letang, said all monies owed to the Social Security will also be paid.

Letang said payment is expected “this week.”

So public works corporation is owed for so long yet I heard an arrogant self enriching SOG government official bashing public works and saying that PWC don’t deserve to work. Hungry belly, nagging wife or gyal fren and crying children surely does not encourage a man to work

How can it be a successful meeting when the workers are not given a specific date for over due payments. According to what was heard on DBS news, payments will be made to the workers after Public Works Corp. is paid monies that are owed to it.
