Shoppers searching for bargain deals will get the opportunity from today as the second annual Shop Dominica kicks off.
The initiative is spearheaded by the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC), the Dominica Hotel & Tourism Association (DHTA), the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) and the Dominica Manufacturers Association (DMA).
The event will run from August 2 -4.
President of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC), Lilian Piper, says in addition to targeting shoppers from overseas, the initiative is also geared at encouraging locals to shop “at home” instead of travelling aboard.
“Usually during the summer, parents go to Puerto Rico and Miami to do shopping but with air fares so high, we are hoping that they will stay home. We also want to encourage the French to come in and experience shopping here. We are actually marketing with them in mind,” she said.

Shop Dominica. SERIOUSLY? 10% 15% off. save $1.19. SHOP DOMINICA. nonsense.
Suspend the VAT
Shop Dominica is pure crap!!! 10-15% on old stuff and expensive stuff. no good for the poor man..
Astaphans 20% 0ff makes no sense at all. old stuff again they offering people? last year was 100% better. This year is pure crap.
Why do we have 10 things, and out of the ten we only need one? we seem to accumulate more of what we don’t want…
What about wood stone Shopping Mall?
Isn’t it included?
The late Roosevelt Douglas said “All ALL SHALL EAT.”
why would i sell my product less on that day when i have spent so much on port duties,, cut down on de port duties for small business ppl and we will work with u,,,..one pair of shoe cost us$30 i pay over EC$60 on import duties are u telling me to sell my shoe at EC$120 HELL NO..am not a looser ,,am in business to gain,,
We will be monitoring these vendors and publishing a list of those who display and sell foreign made goods.
We strongly believe that “Shop Dominica” should relate to products made in Dominica and not China or the USA.
It is also a concern why The Dominica Association of Disabled Peoples (D.A.P.P) is not on the list of businesses taking part in the event.
To ADMIN:
Could you please correct the acronym in the above post to read (D.A.D.P.)
Thanks.
Kindly note, that Shop Dominica is open to all businesses. There is no cost or forms to full out. If DADP wanted to be part of this event, all they had to do was confirm participation like all the other business. Of course foreign products will be part of the sale. Shop Dominica is all about discounts on items. Whether it be school or household items, its about discount, discount and more discount. I do hope you got to spend some money on Friday and today. Remember the promotions ends tomorrow Sunday 04th August. So get out there and Shop!!!, Shop!!!, Shop!!!
Why didn’t someone post this list broken down into business categories with addresses and phone numbers. A visitor to Dominica would not have a clue. Maybe a link or downloadable pdf would of helped. Food for thought.
Sale ? The sale is the original price
Shop Dominica, come again!!!! 10%, 15% discount is nothing and most of the things on sale is old old old old stock!! Need I say more. Thank you Shop Dominica!
Don’t be ridiculous. There were lots of exciting things to shop for and I did enjoyed the percentage off. Made a big difference. I save $500 because of the discounts. Way to Shop Dominica Team.
Dominicans suppose to save big on shopping. So hope shopping is really save Dominicans.
Ehh Ehhhh! Wish I was home!
Very good initiative to boost our economy. I wish all the vendors great success!
whith all these businesses taking part in shop Dominica its suprising that there is still a high level of uuemployment in Dominica, are all these merchants working by themselves and not employing anyone??
Are they supposed to go and hire additional staff just for 3 days??? The places listed already have their staff in place.
The unemployment comes about because everybody want to work for $2000.00 plus whether they have qualifications or not. Nobody want to work in the lower paying jobs because they feel it’s slave work. And that’s where the Spanish and Haitians are coming down here and making it.
But my dear, the barrel coming from NEW YORK…..WHY WORK…ALL THEY NEED IS TOP UP CHANGE….YOU KNOW THE DRILL..
Hahahahahahahahahaha you made my night you damn fool. lmao. You hungry or you need a job, which one?
