Transport infrastructure needs to be developed – DAPEX GM

Emmanuel

General Manager of Dominica Agricultural Products and Exporters Ltd. (DAPEX), Errol Emmanuel believes that a significant improvement in the transportation infrastructure will make the company more competitive.

He said “The downside to our export is the whole question of our transportation infrastructure, it still has to be developed.”

Emmanuel believes that in order to truly impact the regional market there is need to develop a regular, affordable freight system that can be reliable.

“We do not have the type of regular, reliable, competitive shipping that is needed to compete with the likes of St Lucia and St Vincent who have a more competitive freight rate than us. And those are the sort of things moving forward that we, as a nation, must address if we are going to penetrate the regional market,” he concluded.
