Petro Caribe Minister Reginald Austrie says Dominica will not be affected by a decision by the United States to impose sanctions against oil national company, Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), as part of a unilateral law targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran known as CISADA.
Dominica receives 1000 barrels of oil every day from PDVSA.
Austrie says Dominica’s oil trading relationship with Venezuela will not be affected.
“I don’t see it as a major threat. We have received supply since that announcement was made. As far as I am concerned, the product does not pass through the United States, it’s a direct relationship between Venezuella and Dominica,” he said.
The Bolivarian Government expressed its strongest rejection to this decision since it constitutes a hostile action on the fringes of international law that violates the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
1000 barrels a day but still we have expensive fuel.
