WCMF ticket sale goes online

online salePatrons of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) who want the option of utilizing the ease of online ticket purchasing for the event, can now do so.

This is the first time this is being done in the 18-year history of the festival.

Speaking at the 4th press conference for the WCMF on Tuesday, Dominica Festival’s Committee’s Event Assistant, Marva Williams, said the online store has been requested by patrons.

Those interested can purchase tickets at http://ddatickets.com in United States (US) currency only at $ 48.00 per night and $ 125.00 for the three nights.

“We are proud to announce our online store for the World Creole Music Festival for this year and the years to come,” Williams said. “We realize in years gone by that this is one of the things that people will call and ask about.”

She explained that it has been difficult in the past for patrons from England and North America, or even the neighboring islands, to obtain tickets.

“So we decided to go ahead with our online store this year,” she stated.

Meanwhile, in light of the dreaded Ebola virus outbreak in some countries of West Africa and with at least one Nigerian and four acts from Congo coming to Dominica for the WCMF, organizers are planning ahead on how they are going to deal with the issue.

“We have actually started meetings with our stakeholders from health, safety and security and that is one of the things that came up,” Williams said. “We have had about three meetings in that regard.”

She stated that the Environmental Health Department confirmed that procedures are being put in place to deal with the matter and information will be given out as the festival draws closer.

“So we can alert the public in terms of measures and where we are at when we get there,” Williams explained.

Nigerian act “Flavor” and other Soukous acts from Congo such as “Lokassa y Bongo, Dally Kimo, Ballou Canta and Yolanda Sisters” are scheduled to be performing acts in this year’s festival.

Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola Haemorrhagic Fever), is a severe, often fatal illness. Up to 9 out of every 10 people with the infection die. There are no licensed specific treatments or vaccine available for use in people or animals. The time between acquiring an infection and showing symptoms and signs varies from 2 to 21 days.

The virus is highly infectious and is spread by person-to-person transmission through direct contact with bodily fluids or secretions of infected persons including blood, sweat, urine or faeces.

The most common symptoms experienced by persons infected with the virus are the sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache and sore throat. This is followed by vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, impaired kidney and liver function, and at advanced stage, both internal and external bleeding.

http, this is an unsecured site should I put my credit card information on this site, no way. As for the artists from Africa they should be replaced as soon as possible, no ifs no buts no maybe, replaced them immediately.

I agree, I will not purchase tickets until the acts from Nigeria and Congo are replaced. Its unfortunate, but as previously stated, better safe than sorry.

what for Dominicans to make noise and demand for they do not. instead they sit idly by. In my opinion these acts should be cancelled and replaced with other artists from the region. All other countries are stopping their planes and citizens from travelling to these countries. We do not have the capacity to deal with this virus. Better safe than sorry

They were quick to deport Tommy lee from the island, but those with contaminated virus can perform at a show to have others infected….. The country can’t support its people getting sick.
