WINAIR making consistent night flights to Dominica

Regional airline WINAIR is making consistent night flights to Dominica, according to Ports Minister Rayburn Blackmoore.

WINAIR along with carrier LIAT made inaugural night flights to Melville Hall on September 20 2010 to usher in night landing into Dominica.

But only WINAIR has begun commercial night landing at Melville Hall Airport and according to Blackmoore the airline has had more than 86 percent occupancy from its St. Maarten to Dominica flights.

“We have been able to have night landing operations from St. Maarten into Dominica consistently,” he said.

LIAT had been holding back on starting its commercial night flights to Melville Hall because of technical constraints but Blackmoore has confirmed that all these have been sorted out and expects LIAT to get its night landing schedule underway in April.

Isn’t Dominica the only eastern Caribbean country without night landing? The government seem to be treating the general public like children. And I guess most of you so call party followers are.”Stupid”. Night landing instead of an international airport. Wow. Big step skerro. I looked at the pic of the day which featured the runway in marigott. To the left in the photo there was a tiny terminal. WTF. I guess we can line up and admire the runway cause there is no room in the terminal.

In all fairness, Rayburn never said anything about WinAir pulling out of Dca in the above report. He said they have been landing at night. So don’t let your contemp for the man cloud your judgment, “Boss”.

Have the Government discussed with night landing possibilities with Caribbean Airlines yet? This might be a new opportunity worth exploring especially in light of Caribbean Airline’s interest in flying routes currently operated by LIAT. Trinidad could be a new hub for Dominica and an important trading partner for Dominican retailers… and consumers

mouth of the south, you are ignorant!!!!! Why the eagle, The eagle has the least safest record in the Caribbean. The eagle has had numerous crashes trhoughout Puerto Rico and is running one of the oldest planes in region.

Have you ever been on an eagle and see how aged those planes are? American or any Northern white nation is not the end all for us in the south.

Unless we put trust in our people, we as a nation and people will bnever move forward.

We sometimes think that is only americans(white) that can do it. Someone can hear the same advise from a black Domincan, but won’t believe them untill they hear it from the whiteman.

      Shame, mouth of the south!!

kazimi this isn’t a racial thing but u would agree that the FAA has a high standard protocol when it comes to aviation,,, sincerely this issue in melville hall has had so many games,,, so many yes or no’s that i don’t trust it anymore,,, i can almost feel the gov’t is behind the scenes trying to look good,,, i know the FAA can’t be bought,,, at least not by dominican gov’t so i put more trust in there safety procedures than winair

          Mouth of the South,

What makes you think that the FAA have a high standard. America has the most corruption believe or not. FAA or FDA any of these agencies are bought for the right price. Have you read of the close mid-air collision in the united states? Or the ATC agent, who had a plane taken off from the wrong runway in North Carolina causing North West Regional jet to crash?

Furthermore, President Clinton someone we all admire, well I do not. He was the one that sold us out for Chiquita Banana and allowed Chiquita and Dole farmers in Latin America to have direct access to Europe with their bananas and we lost our preferential treatment with Europe( WTO).

I grew up learning that the USA is the standard for everything, but we are all humans everywhere and we have the ability to it all. We need to stop looking at the USA for our standards, but rather look at our needs.

Don’t think I am Skereet Support cause I am not really. I am just for who is going to do good for our nation.

On a flight to Dallas last April, I had to the privilege to seat next to someone who inspects airports and the guy was telling his job and that he had been to Dominica. He said the airport meets American standards. I still have his number if you want to know if the airport is safe.
