The “dice” has been rolled and the dipping has taken place for the 2014 calypso finals this week.
Singing at number one will be veteran calypsonian Hunter followed by new comer Wave, Leona, King Dice, Bobb, Beno, Black Diamond, Booplay, Picky and finally Webb, at number 10.
Speaking at the dipping at the calypso house, vice president of the Dominica Calypso Association (DCA) Arthur “Bassie” Pascal urged the finalists to “go out there have fun, give your best because out of the many, a few are chosen.”
Manager of LIME Jeffrey Baptiste, commended the finalists and encouraged calypsonians given the amount of work that is put into creating the product during carnival to find a way “to push calypso beyond Ash Wednesday” annually.”
Sales and marketing manager of Josephine Gabriel, Jenny Bully, also called on the finalists to give “their best” and while making a pitch for carnival patrons to favour Heineken beer, she urged them to drink responsibly. “
King Dice, who was not present for the dip, will sing at number 4 which was the last remaining number after all the calypsonians who were present or who were represented, had dipped.
