Bishops of the Antilles Episcopal Conference (AEC) say they are ready to work with regional governments as they battle a surge of violent crimes.
“We stand ready to work with our leaders to renew our Caribbean peoples,” the Bishops said in a statement following the AECs 67TH Annual Plenary Meeting in Aruba.
The men of the cloth had high praises for Heads of Government of CARICOM who declared crime and violence as a public health issue following a symposium held in Trinidad and Tobago on April 17 and 18.
“We thank them for their leadership in raising crime and violence as a Public Health issue that needs: “a robust regional response that includes a public health approach, which is an all-of-society strategy including family, church, academia, cultural and sports personalities, minority political parties and wider civil society,” they said. “The perspective of and call for all leaders to come together to face this most dangerous social crisis is heartening and encouraging.”
The Bishops called for all governments in the Caribbean to initiate what they described as a “multi-sector team” to include the government, opposition, trade union, business, and religious leaders, and all civil society to move the declaration made at the Trinidad symposium into action.
“This team should facilitate and engage in a series of conversations in the communities where there is the greatest vulnerability to begin understanding the complexity of the issues and thus charting meaningful solutions to all forms of violence,” their statement said.
The Bishops said they are ready to work with all leaders of the society “to form our people’s consciences and work tirelessly to build character and values through all our institutions.”
“We continue to pray that Almighty God will give us both the inspiration and the courage to face this most difficult challenge and to do what is necessary to transform our nations for the sake of the present and future generations,” they said.
The AEC consists of Bishops from Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Dominica, St Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Bermuda, Belize, Grenada, French Guyana, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Guyana, Suriname, and Curacao.
Wasted efforts. Work to build families that have a strong sense of spirituality and dignity. This will filter down into society. Growing up in the 80’s the older men like my grandfather and Mr. Cuffy and a few others were involved heavily in the church. they guided their families by religious beliefs, and so did other families in my community. these values filtered down to my generation. although i dont go to church anymore, the values instilled by my grandfather, taught to me directly by him and through my parents still permeate within me today. but gangsters dont want to see and hear priests. These days man want to be smoking weed in church and disrespecting church services during retreats etc. Priests need to focus on building families that have reverence to God. But crime is out of their hands unless a criminal has come to them for help. and that is hardly ever. man even stealing church candles from the church these days to sell. what a time.
I figured you don’t go to church anymore especially when you found out it was forced upon your parents, the mayhem and hardships orchestrated by the Vatican and European (hijacked) Christianity and Islam upon your continent, and the world. We do know better today.
These guys are going out to the streats to beat the criminals.
Ask the UWP religious political advisor pastor Rattlesnake, what happened to the case were a young girl was electrocuted in a marijuana plantation.Wicked hypocrite, the law is three marijuana trees, yet more than 40 trees were found on the property and the property fully wired to kill.Where is the justice for the young girl Mr.Rattlesnake?
@Lin clown, you are a real clown to be asking a private citizen about something heinous that may have occurred. Any intelligent individual would go and ask the police. Keep up your silly circus act.
First of all. You cannot compare chalk and cheese, apples to tomatoes. Protestant churches CANNOT and should not be compared to the Catholic Church. Afterall, that is why they broke away from the church to begin with. there are NO pastors in the Catholic Church. Maybe you just want to talk and run your mouth, but this article is about what the Catholic Church is doing. Not the others who broke away to do their own thing in their own understanding. Now, on the stance of marijuana, the Bible itself says that the herb on this land is for the use of man. Sins and laws are two different things. Remember that Jesus himself was a criminal in the eyes of the law, and actual outlaw, running from the police (Romans). caught, and “tried” but the court and crucified. All legal proceedings. But Jesus had committed no sin. Cannabis/marijuana, although may be legal, it is not a sin. Chattel slavery, although very legal for 400 years and more, the atrocities committed were very much a sin.
Did you say Romans? 🤔 people who knew nothing about God until their invasion of Africa. How did they get into biblical text, by invading Egypt, hijacked Christianity, made several changes to justify their evil deeds; then embedded themselves into the Bible like mathew, mark, Luke etc?
“Bishops of the Antilles Episcopal Conference (AEC) say they are ready to work with regional governments as they battle a surge of violent crimes.”
You see you so called bishops, a majority whom are a bunch of homosexuals, are more responsible for the crimes committed in the region. You suckers are sit around doing everything even playing politics rather than preaching and teaching the word of God out of the Bible.
You spend you time talking the philosophy of man; a sinful man you all revere as “Papa” pope! The Bible never talk about any pope, and surely it states what qualifies one to be a Bishop!
One of the Biblical condition is that a Bishop must have a wife and Children!
Where are your wife’s and children suckers?
Jesus asks whose inscription is on a coin they answered Caesar: He responding by saying Render unto the things that are Caesar, and unto God the things that are God’s. Here you stooges are playing politics to get as much money as St. Lucian Mulzaire, got…
Cont:
Here you stooges are playing politics to get as much money as the St. Lucian Mulzaire, got from Roosevelt, who in turn promised Roosevelt Skerrit that damn crook that he would be compensated!
Malzaire has since then referred to in Dominica labor party politics, as “our boy’? To this day the building he claimed he took almost a million dollars from Roosevelt he said to repair still remains broken down; the last I saw they were advising a phonographic sailing trip, where the advisement shows a gyrating man and woman as if to say that’s what you will get aboard!
There is a scripture in the Word of God which said. If it is of God it will prevail, if it is not of God it will destroy itself.
There shall forever be conflict between Church and State!
Many Roman Catholic Church (buildings) has closed in Los Angeles, because the diocese pays out billions of dollars to people whom were homosexuality victimized by you so called priest and bishops!
Preach God’s words, not…
Children learn what they see. They are like sponges. Look at how the adults in the community behave? Look at how the politicians behave? Look at how many who professed to be Christians behave? How do we expect our children to behave?
There must be a comprehensive plan which includes a wide cross-section of the society if we are to buck the current trend of societal violence and behavioral problems.
Bunch of hypocrite
So where were the Bishops, including Mulzaire when the citizens of Salisbury were terrorized by the government of Dominica? Where were the Bishops when Choksi was kidnapped and brutalized and brought to Dominica by two regional governments and the Indian government? Where were the Bishops when international criminals with Interpol orders were hiding out in Dominica? Where were they when there is continued treating and bribery
in elections against the existing laws? These Bishops see crime only when the children of the common people who are desperate get entangled infringing the law. Not surprised because the Catholic church we now know was totally involved in abusing young children and passing them around like dollar bills for continuous abuse. These guys have no legitimacy and aren’t in a position to lead on solving crime in the region until they start to call out the sins against the children of God by politicians. First get out of bed with materialism and politicians.
These people standing there they are a bunch of hypocrites. The Bible teaches to train up a child in the way it must go, so that when the child is old it will not depart from the teachings.
That is not verbatim to the word of God, but you get the idea!
The word of God can change people and tings; but if you go to a building where the word of God should be preached, and all you get is the philosophy of a man, you sit and listen for two hours, and on leaving you don’t remember anything what good will that do?
You can’t remember because there was nothing significant about God taught. I was Roman catholic in Wesley, many times I would here people asks what did the priest preach on Sunday; it was not unusual for people to answer “I doh know but he preach.”
I remember three Sundays in a row a damn priest maned Vizzano read the same sermon written by some Bishop in Roseau talking about “when a mother have a child, and some bs, nothing relevant to God. and that’s the crap!
When will there be a local bishop in the islandofDominica. I has been to long now.
Dude is too late, now that people are finding out more about the evil and mayhem orchestrated by their boss, the Vatican, that only succeeded in bringing us lucifer to these girly mens.
We are better off without one of them. I mean, what did Mulzaire do for the people of DA? Absolutely nothing!
