Caribbean Medical Mission trip to Dominica planned for June

 

Caribbean Medical Mission (CMM) is a non-profit organization, registered as a 501(c)(3), with a core mission to enhance the health and welfare of marginalized communities across the Caribbean region. Its inception dates back to 1997, initiated by a group of medical professionals from Jamaica. CMM is committed to delivering accessible and cost-effective primary healthcare services to individuals facing inadequate healthcare provisions.

In a collaborative effort, the organization will join forces with various entities including the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and Social Services, the Dominica Cancer Society, the Diabetes Association, and the Rotary Club. Together, they aim to extend their reach and impact within the region.

The upcoming endeavors of CMM entail the provision of complimentary medical services in specialized fields. These include Pediatrics, Internal Medicine addressing ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, pain management, as well as other health conditions, an Eye Clinic catering to vision correction and eye-related disorders, Gynecology focusing on women’s health and pap smears, Dentistry services, and Psychological consultations for mental health concerns.

Scheduled from 8 am to 3 pm, the outreach programs will take place at the following locations:

  • June 10th – Grand Bay Health Centre
  • June 11th – LaPlaine Health Centre
  • June 12th – Wesley Health Centre (including the surrounding areas of Kalinago Territory)
  • June 13th – Roseau Health Centre
  • June 14th – Portsmouth Hospital

    This is timely! The organizers should be commended for this initiative and foresight. This is an excellent opportunity that should benefit most of our citizens, especially those in the outer districts experiencing challenges in having their medical concerns addressed.
    We look forward to learning more about this organization during their stay here. Thank you for your service and unwavering commitment.
