Castle Bruce moves on to second round of inter-secondary schools debating competition

CBSS debating team: Deandre Francis (l), Mercia Winston

The Castle Bruce Secondary School (CBSS) has won the first debate in the first round of the Inter-secondary Schools Debate Competition.

Deandre Francis and Mercia Winston represented the CBSS. Winston also won best speaker.

They went up against the St. Martin Secondary School (SMSS) which was represented by Dianca George and Marsha Joseph.

The topic was “A drug rehabilitation center is necessary to reduce the negative impact of drug abuse on the Dominican society.”

The Castle Bruce Secondary School opposed while St. Martin Secondary School proposed.

In another round one debate which was held at the Public Service Union (PSU) building yesterday, St. Mary’s Academy  (SMA) went up against the Arthur Waldron Seventh-Day Adventist Academy.
The topic for that debate was the same as for the CBSS vs SMSS encounter.

SMA, as the opposing side were crowned champions.
