The scout movement is growing in Castle Bruce.

The scout troupe in that community has been increased with the recent addition of 15 cubs and 6 scouts. The new additions were welcomed at a ceremony which was held on Saturday June 14, 2014 at the Castle Bruce Primary School.

in the presence of proud parents and other invited guests.

Keynote speaker at the function, Nigel Roberts, informed the new members of the benefits and duties of scouting. He told them that they are not only members of the Castle Bruce Scout Troupe  but a worldwide movement. Roberts has been a member of the Castle Bruce  Scout Troupe  since the age of 7. The long-time scout, who is now studying Chemical Engineering at U.W.I, said scouting has “made him a gentle man” ready to take on the challenges of life.
Chief Commissioner  of scouting in Dominica, Erwin David, was on hand to welcome the new recruits to the society and emphasis the true benefits of scouting. As he put it, many young men’s lives were saved from society ills because of scouting.
Leader of the Castle Bruce scout troupe, Kenrick Lecointe has worked very hard with his team to keep the spirit of scouting alive in the community. The Castle Bruce troupe is also involved in other activities in the community. They recently hosted what has been described as a very successful sport event “with great community participation.”
One of the goals of the Castle Bruce Scout Troupe is to acquire drums and other musical instruments.
