CHECK THIS OUT: Poet Amanda Gorman reads ‘The Hill We Climb’ at Biden inauguration

America’s first-ever National Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman, reads “The Hill We Climb” at the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Gorman has become the youngest poet ever to perform at a presidential inauguration, calling for “unity and togetherness” in her self-penned poem.

I might add that she’s proud of her natural beauty: no bleached skin, no straightened or false hair and no disguised facial features.

We need to expose our young people to positive youths like Amanda Gorman. Let them aspire to be the best they can be.

The young, impressionable persons in Dominica and throughout the region usually ‘BIG UP’ the vulgar, obscene dancehall artistes who degrade women, promote violence and handcuff themselves to profanty in their songs. A person becomes the music he frequently listens to.

Let Amanda Gorman be an inspiration to all of us especially the youth around us. Let good prevail over evil.

We’ve got to encourage our youth to read more books than being on the internet where words are not even spelt out anymore but the short cut is used instead. Poetry should also be encouraged at school and our youth should be encouraged to write more.

Amanda Gorman’s poem and her presentation is a credit to us all. She radiates the natural beauty of her race.
