Chinese Embassy in Dominica holds “A Taste of China” Activities

On July 17, 2019, the Chinese Embassy in Dominica held “A Taste of China” Chinese cooking activities in partnership with the Newtown Bwabwa Academy (NBbA), inviting 15 students form the Dominica State College, Convent High School, Newtown Primary School, etc.

Mr. Luo Songtao, Charge D’affaires of the Chinese Embassy gave a welcome speech, briefing the students on China’s basics and the deep friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Dominica over the 15 years of diplomatic relations. He encouraged them to learn Chinese culture and serve as the bridge of China-Dominican friendship in the future.

The students watched the video showcasing Chinese culture, learnt how to make dumplings under the guidance of the Embassy staff and witnessed the whole process of the cooking of the Chinese dish Fired Eggs with Tomatoes by the Embassy Chef. During lunch, they succeeded in learning how to use chopsticks and enjoyed Chinese food including the dumplings they had made.

After lunch, the students performed stilts and participated in the Q&A games with prizes, which focused on knowledge on China.

The organizer of the NBbA thanked the Embassy for the thoughtful arrangements, saying that China is a good friend of Dominica and it is very important for Dominican young people to learn Chinese culture. He wished a lasting friendship between China and Dominica.

Self preservation cannot be racist, the word is in the wrong context. To be a racist you must have some kind of power over the oppress that affects their daily life like having the freedom and equality to live and earn a decent living with out fear or favor to noman bse on skin colour.

See why Dominica so backwards? Allu like to blame politicians, but how can they possibly do any good for a people so backwards in thinking and ungrateful in spirit?
Be careful of the Chinese? Why? Since 1492 how much better did the white man do? How much more prosperous have we become. Since 1978 what did the white man bring purely out of the goodness of his heart?
Do you even realise how racist you are as a people? Do you even realise how brainwashed you are? You have been programmed to believe only America and Europe can bring any good to us.
    That’s slavery in the mind.
You curse the Haitians, curse the Chinese, curse the Venezuelans. The only people you backwards, racist, brainwashed people don’t curse is the white man. Why is that?
You want investment, you want economic enlargement, you better goods and services yet you detest the very people trying to help.
The system set up by the west, for the beneficiary, interest of the west, has worked so well for black…

I, too, have my serious problems with the US foreign policies and the racism that exists today in America and Europe. We in the Caribbean have certainly been brainwashed by the US news media to think of America as beacon of morality. The election of Donald John Trump to the highest office in the US has brought to the fore the expansive racism that still exists today in America. China is no bastion of goodness either. You, as a black man, go and take up residence there for a year or two. The Chinese are overly racist people. Many of them are of the belief that a black person is not human but an animal. Yes, they help to develop the infrastructure of Dominica but with ulterior motives. We should not let down our guard concerning the Chinese. Read about how they presently treat Africans in Africa. The people have a right to be suspicious of their activities.

I agree with being suspicious, but be that way with everyone, more so the white European / western man for whom we have far superior knowledge of their duplicity, greed, racism and wickedness. If your suspicion is only towards the Chinese then you’re playing the white man’s battle for him. Which is to shut out China and instead rely on them. But meanwhile they deal with China.

Your pro-sino verbiage insinuates your support of our PM’s non-disclosure of the MOU he signed with China while telling us it’s none of our damn business. What you are saying is since we have been abused as a people by the “white man” we should gracefully accept abuse by another group, namely the Chinese. While striving for their own independence, Sino-phobia is legitimate for any recipient country of the Dragon’s gifts.

At open mind,…do not condemn all Dominicans for the misbehavior of a few unreasonable wicked people (uwp). This minority group are advocates of hatred, wickedness and terrorism even towards their fellow Dominicans.
When you look deep, you will notice that Dominica does not have any foreign enemies and are not the target of any terrorist groups but those within.
Those people with the Plantation white masters mentality practiced their hatred on our ancestoral Kalinago people, now they have included others as the victim of their racial viciousness including their fellow Dominicans .
Their evil ways are like an addiction. But we are not all like this ,only a minority few.
They cannot accept that massa day done, social elitism is over.
Visitors and outsiders have only wonderful sayings about Dominica and Dominicans, but this minority group will even go on international tv, the www and social media to disparage Dominica trying to make it the worst place on earth.

I cannot believe the comments above me. Why are people from Dominica looking at China from a US prospective? It’s unbelievable. My friends you need to stop watching the fake news media.

When China stops its racist and totalitarian policies only then will I feel comfortable to embrace them. As a black man you cannot own a business, own a saving’s account, enter most nightclubs, and do various other things in China. Those who are here stubbornly refuse to interact with the ordinary Dominicans. China’s main ambition is to be the world’s #1 superpower. They certainly help to develop the infrastructure of poor friendly countries but at a cost. They slowly take over your air and sea ports, your whole economy and disrespect the locals. A re-colonization of Africa and the Caribbean is taking shape.

If they take over the air and build its a massive new, sustainable and well used Airport that I can fly home to directly, I say let them.
If they take over the sea ports and I can ship barrels, containers any given day or week as apposed to once a month, I say let them.
If it means come a Hurricane, we can get aid and assistance to Dominica by the next day, I say let them.
Because I can guarantee, what you’re gaining is significantly more than what you’re so scared of losing.
Did you know that despite all the Western anti Russian rhetoric and fear, Russia has been supplying Europe with Gas for decades? The UK has signed a contract for China to build a Nuclear power plant.

We seem to be so petrified as a people of losing the yet unquantifiable.

OpenMind, I am not one who believes that the US has our best interest at heart. The US always operates in its own best interest, especially in trade, and tries to maintain its military dominance over the world. I have read their history of assassinations all over the world, more particularly, in South America. They have also fanned the flames of civil unrest in foreign countries to intervene under the pretext of humanitarian rescue. Having said all of that, we have to protect ourselves and be skeptical about the intentions of the new world power mongers. We don’t want to be ‘colonized’ again by any foreign superpower. I prefer for our leaders to work towards self sufficiency than to rely on the US, China, Russia and others to provide for our country’s basic needs. Corruption, greed, selfishness, laziness and lack of vision has been our greatest stumbling block.

Very good initiative. Every encounter with the Chinese I have had here has been a pleasant one. They are a hard working people. This was a great way to support cross cultural interaction within this community. What troubles me is some of the attitudes some Dominicans have toward the Chinese. It has been my observation that many Dominicans take the partnership with the Chinese for granted despite the fact the Chinese has done alot for this country.

Thank you very much but I don’t want a taste of China. I keep on eating our cuisine, I keep on practicing our customs and I believe in western values. These people are only our friends on paper in exchange for something but none of us know what that ‘something’ is, because our PM tells us it’s none of our damn business. You all just look to Hongkong and there you all see for China stands for…!

They have a rich culture(look up a YouTube channel called Liziqi) and I like them very much. It is in the government’s that corruption and malice usually lie. I know what you speak of…they are targeting and trying to quiet the The Gospel in China. But look….they challenge The Lord…it is his battle😎….they won’t win! The lord catches the crafty in their folly….👑He is King👑 The USA is also turning into a monster…
.they are destroying children by confusing them with gender(Putin calls them transformers and told them to leave the children out of this), they are blenderizing children in the safety of the womb like it’s a joke and they are turning against Christian’s. And many countries want to destroy Israel..the ancient city…Look at how the world is turning rotten around us. My people look. Learn to see. The underlying system of the world is wicked for we do not fight against flesh and blood. You Dominicans and people of the islands know well that evil exists…dem…

See how they are treating our African sisters and brothers who migrate to their country.

Beware the Trogan Horse, if there is another world war look for a Chinese Navy base to be constructed at Portsmouth harbor courtesy of the Dominican millionaire yours truly who has gotten millions from China. He owes China and will not be able to do anything when China comes calling for re-payment. Yours truly is selling Dominica and will flee like a coward when push comes to shove with millions in his overseas bank account.

Let’s hope our young people do their own research on China to learn about the “Great Firewall” internet censorship apparatus where Chinese people don’t have access to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and other social media sites, and the suppression of historical facts like the June 4, 1989 Tienanmen Square massacre while the government of China officially espouses state atheism and perform involuntary organ harvesting. That’s the true “Taste of China”.
