Clinton Global Initiative impressed with post-Maria progress in Dominica

Members of a delegation from the the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) which is visiting Dominica, say they are impressed by the progress made by the island since its devastation by Hurricane Maria in 2017.

The 13-member delegation arrived in Dominica on April 15 and will be here until April 18, to assess the progress made in the areas of Energy, Agriculture, Tourism and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Dominica.

The CGI delegation met with selected permanent secretaries on Tuesday April 16, at Fort Young Hotel to discuss project areas for consideration.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Gloria Joseph, who was part of the meeting, explained that the purpose of the visit by the CGI delegation was two-fold.

“One was to see what progress we have made since hurricane Maria and they are indeed elated. They can’t believe that we have been so restored. We know we have a long way to go but they are very appreciative of the progress we have made,” Joseph stated. “The second part of their visit was to continue to look at areas in which they could support us on an investment level and on a humanitarian level.”

Joseph said the C.E.O of Digicel Dominica, Nikima Royer Jno Baptiste was very instrumental in organizing the CGI visit to Dominica “because they have partnered with Digicel in reconstructing 6 schools on the east coast particularly in Kalinago territory and Castle Bruce and also ensuring playgrounds and health kits for the students. They continue look at initiatives in the east like aquaponics and other roofing project etc.”

The delegation plans to visit the Ross University site, the five-star hotel projects in the north, the Public Library, the and the Bellevue Chopin Housing Project. They will also meet with the public sector, Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Dominica Association of Industry & Commerce  (DAIC), Dominica Essential Oil Producers and Climate Resilience Executing Agency of Dominica (CREAD).

Have anyone heard what the Clinton foundation did to the Haitian People? No one should pay any attention to what these people say. Some family members use the foundation money to fund their wedding. Some of us need to stop speaking in tongues and ask fake pastors to apologies to the Dominican people for all the missing baby Sarah’s.

A lot has been done! Can everything be done at once? Take into account the contracters; Dominica has never had to have a high demand for contracters who in their own rights are crippling the people who have suffered. Apart from that we have a lot of foreign contracters who are assisting & donor agencies. So since walking with your eyes closed is the watchword, then open your eyes, see all what has been done. Hire a taxi, visit all the villages, hamlets etc. I will say again a lot have been done but all cannot be done. A lot of work is in progress in the North, South, East & West. Isn’t this something to be grateful for? Those whose work have not started be patient, it will be done but remember this was a 6 Category hurricane and about 90% of houses were damaged – roofs, wooden houses completely destroyed, some concrete too, mostly every house was impacted some way or the other – Windows/doors/walls. Remember the debris roads etc
We give God thanks for where we are today

Of course, you would say that a lot has been done. You And Skerrit have the same Halluzinations. You know the is a difference between reality and lies/wishful thinking. I have told you on at least 10 occasions, the only thing Skerrit ever achieved was to fill his bank account at the expense of Ma Dominique. You are as corrupt as your master!!

  5. My Little Take
    April 17, 2019

I Hope The 13-member delegation from the Clinton Global DID NOT vote on the name of a dead person and they gave their ballot to that EVIL senior police officer that is only concerned about MEALS.
I also hope none of them get sick or involved in an accident here so they don’t get to experience the state of the art health care we have here, thanks to Skerrit and Vince.
I Hope they take them out when Skerrit them going on their money distribution trips and ask them 1. Where Skerrit got that money from 2. With so much ‘on the surface progress’ they saw, why Skerrit not running on that? Why he has to pay people to vote for him and why he has to pay his candidates so much money to run for him?
I Hope they ask Skerrit where he and the DLP getting their money from
I Hope the ask him how many passports he sold since Maria and ask for a list of new CBI Dominicans.
I Hope they ask him what work Trump Lawyer Rudolph Giuliani, did for Dominica and how much they paid him

I don’t need the Clinton Global to tell me we moved on because I know we have recovered. Most Roofs have been replaced, some houses have been erected, trees have turned green again, streets have been cleaned etc. When one is visiting they must see these things. In other words, we have moved on and we no longer need relief supplies like we did say two months after Maria. So on surface we are looking good, just as a person that is known to have a malignant cancer is well dressed and looking good. But the question is, how is life in Dominica? So first, I suggest Gloria Joseph and others should take them to Picard, Portsmouth and show them what use to be The Ross University with about 1200 foreign students and staff and somehow Roosevelt Skerrit forced them out of Dominica and relocated them in Barbados. Gloria needs to tell them how many landlords that took loans and many that earned an income from Ross are left stranded, including Gloria Joseph, who is an affected landlord.

Those people who are talking about “walking with eyes closed” what is your point?

Jesus, speaking about blind/see, He said: “For judgment, I have come into this World, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.”

The faithless Jewish Leader asked Him: “Are we also blind too”? Jesus told them: “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains”.

My point? While you all are talking about “people walking with their eyes closed”, with you all’s eyes wide open you are denying the truth–just like the Jewish Leaders did, claiming they were not blind.

That is the case with you all. You see the “truth” but you all continue to deny it.

Maybe you all should walk with your eyes closed, so when it is time for you all to see, you will dismiss that awful state of negativity and darkness which blocked you all’s mind from the beginning and to learn to walk in the Light.

        April 19, 2019

I concur that some christians are truly wicked. Don’t most or all political leaders swear by the bible? Once they get in office, their perspective changes and they start to oppress the very people who voted for them to be in control of their minds. That’s why I compare religion and politics because both of them are control mechanisms. That’s why I do not belong to any political or religious group. I was born with a free mind and I refuse to let any man control it more than is necessary.

      • April 18, 2019

@RandyX, thank you for calling me Liz, that is what my friends call me. And even if we are not on the terms, where politics is considered we can be friends, can’t we?

And one more thing, I can see better than you wee! I am seeing by my faith, which motivates hopes to believe in the Wonders of God–what He will do for His chosen people.

Xavier, never in a lifetime could you and I be friends. All my life I avoided people that are hypocrites and corrupt and to top it all go to church twice a week or even more. You worship one of the most corrupt persons in Dominica’s history and you try and talk to me about your faith! Please, spare me…

Stupes. Those Clinton mamaguyers are not in tpuch with all the disaster, bobol and thievery going on in Dominica. Dominica is the ost undeveloped island, it’s o all kinds of blacklists, its parrots are unaccounted for, and it;s passport has been devalued to near worthlessness. How can any reputable organization add it’s endorsement to such a state of affairs? Tell the Clinton Global Initiative to get their head out of the sand. Totally worthless assessment.

Members of the cabal invite somebody from abroad and tell them what to say to the Dominican media. That’s how this works! Because nobody in their right mind could say DA has made an adequate recovery considering the time span and the significant aid that was received. Whoever travels the roads of DA and has a good look at some areas where house are still covered with plastic and then state they are impressed by the progress of the island, they are either lying or must live in a major desaster area somewhere in darkest Africa. Nothing but propaganda for the regime!!

    • April 17, 2019

There is a difference between promised aid and aid received. People like you get sick and vex when anything good is reported about, thats why your leader is in Canada saying that nobody is working in dominica, knowing that to be a lie.
