The autopsies for last week’s three murder victims are scheduled to take place tomorrow after jurors were impaneled for a coroner’s inquest this morning.
Police spokesman Inspector Claude Weekes said the commencement of the coroner’s court proceeding has paved the way for the beginning of the autopsies.
Weekes said the coroner’s inquest is imperative to police investigations of murders and suspicious deaths, and as such no autopsy can take place without one.
The bodies in question are those of Omara Small, formerly known as ‘Mwanga Freeman’, who was gunned down at about 9:30 pm last week Wednesday. The others are 5-year-old Rachel Vigilant and her baby sister 2-month-old Sophia, who were killed Thursday morning – a few hours after Mwanga’s execution.
The mother of the dead children, who was arrested in connection with their gruesome deaths, has still not been formally charged. The constitutionally allotted time of 72 hours has expired. This time warrants that an arrest should be made or the suspect released.
However, the police spokesman indicated that this system could be flexed depending on the situation. In this case the suspect is perceived to be mentally ill and is seeking medical attention.
There has been no confirmed arrests or charges in the case of Mwanga Freeman.

Imagine, I went to a friend of mines funeral just last month and the older girl (Rachael) was sitting just in front of me with her Grandmother. Her grandma is a preacher or something (correct me if I used the wrong term) and she spoke @ the funeral of how she had lost her mother and her husband one after the other. While everyone is entitled to their own outrage as a result of the incident, we can all agree to the fact that this woman must have encountered an extreme psychological disorder which caused her to kill her own biological children. All we can do is show her mercy..something which the good Lord will certainly do if she asks for it.

@Summer, I saw the album as well and it was quite disturbing. If this girl was up in the states or any one of these big countries they would have used that against her in court. I think this young lady was a very disturbed one. She needs help. They better not set this girl free because if you can kill your own children you can kill anybody. Just hope they keep her inside the mental institution and give her the help she needs until she is fit to finish take her jail time stockfarm.

This is very sad. However, when I went on her FB after talks about warning signs I got chills looking at some of the pictures.
There was an album that had pictures made to be funny with people doing not so nice things to babies/ children.
For example one of the pictures had a baby on a bbq grill, another pic was with a snake on top of a baby on a bed, a few pictures had people/statue holding babies by the legs upside down/ statue kicking a baby etc. One pic had someone squeezing a babies face with their two hands, one had a baby in a dirty sink with dishes everywhere, one had a a little boy crying with a fork through his nose. That’s just the few that I could remember. Her page has been deleted.
Most of us have gotten funny emails/ pictures about kids and grownups, but this was a little bizarre, that an album was dedicated to pictures like this in ref. to babies/kids. Subconsciously this could have been a cry for help. I guess this is a wake up call for all of us to keep in mind these little hints of help from our friends and family. Everyone needs someone to talk to and can sometimes ask for it in different ways and not even know it. Just because someone seems all put together on the outside does not mean they are not suffering with something inside.
Let’s all learn from this tragedy and become more aware and stop being self consumed and negative…

THERE ARE THREE SIDES TO A STORY WHICH ARE WHAT THE LADY AND THE MAN HAS TO SAY AND THE TRUTH UNTIL WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN THAT WE SHOULD NOT USE OUR TONGUES AS WEAPONS TO SPIKE ONE ANOTHER. WE SHOULD BE MORE CONSIDERATE. I can emphasise with … because I almost put my self in her situation once in my life.I got pregnant at an early age,had no support and no one I could turn to.I had to beg and steal and borrow to feed my child let alone myself..(I am not blaming anyone but myself)
I used to go days without an interaction with my friends or family and hey could you blame them I took my own way and got pregant for a guy who was nine years older than me and had several other women on the go.(not looking for sympathy as I am grown now) So as you can guess I was down and out and sank deep into depression.BUt hey I can mask my feelings so no one would notice.Oneday as I was bathing my daughter something popped into my head ”if i put her to sleep she will never have to suffer and before I could stop myself I had her head under water.Up to a day like today I don’t know what made me snap out of it.When I realised what I was doing I just started screaming and thank God my neighbour was home that day cause god know I was screaming so much that I could not revive her which she did.
I have never told a soul what I did that day because who would want a person like this around them.I guess I was a second stronger than … and able to stop myself, but this does not make me better than her.
What we need to do is create a support system for people like her.Depression is a serious desease and should not be played with.

Blame it on post partum depression, psychosis or plain mishcief, but the facts of life are constant:
1. Parents need to carefully observe their kids, and counsel them the right way
2. People should not take ‘strange’ behaviour for granted, and just turn potentially dangerous situations into beff and gossip
3. Young people need a spiritual life
4. Men need to stop using women if they are not interested in them
5. Women need to get a life for themselves, get an education and become independent and strong
With all the stories that are coming out now about facebook, threats to the father, phone calls made etc. SOCIETY failed these kids because there were TOO many signs. Now after the gruesome murder it’s a he say she say, he do she do.

My dear those phtos were there from July…now if the baby was about two months then you do the math. All I can say is that those phtos were some real messed up shit and if proseccusion get a hold of them then stronger case for them. All i want is to see somebody pay for the lives of those two Angels. It cannot pass just so

Do you Know what Psychosis means? Do you know what Post partum Depression means? My mother has been a psychiatric patient for the past thirty plus years. I know all to well what this young lady must have been feeling. My mother wasn’t born psychotic….circumstances made her what she is today.I am saddened that this situation had to lead to the death of two innocent children.These recent incidents should seek to cause us to evaluate our Mental health System and stop our negative mentality and attitudes towards mental health. when ppl dont kno the facts sourrounding a case u will find all kind of stories going around…..its a very sesitive issue…..its a sad story for our lil dominica….the girl was obessed over the guy….they were once in love and had thier first child… love faded… she couldnt get over him…..trapped him into having a 2nd… he wasnt ready for…he should have manned up and taken care of his responsibility but he didnt….and she knew he wasnt willing and able yet still her obsession wasnt allowing her to let go….post partum can cause one to do alot… but in this case it should not be blamed on post partum… this girl was long goin offf because of the neglect she received from the man…. she put the man over her own children….she took her frustration out on the kids….her pics on facebook should be used as evidence against her… but she was smart enought to let some one deactivate the account….now 2 innocent lives have gone… and 2 more is destroyed… and alot of families hurt…. she can never live a normal life after wat she did….. the guy on the other hand can find the strength to move on……please ppl.. kno wat u r talking bout or else jus read and hav nothin to say
Domincans need to stop this silliness. RESEARCH what is post partum depresion. While it is common VERY FEW (only 0.01%) of mothers react to this and there are BILLIONS of mothers. I don’t care what any one says she is a MURDERER!!! You CANNOT tell me that you didnt have enough sense when you to go to your kitchen, take the knife cut up the first child who we KNOW had to be be crying, then move on to the second one, cut up that one and then go and tell your neighbor to call police, you just killed your kids!!! NOTHING makes you more alert than the sound of a crying baby or a scream, NOTHING!!! Post partum doesn’t come months and month after you have your child, it comes right after you push it out beause that is when your hormones begin to readjust themselves.
She was fine enough to post all these pictures on FaceBook AFTER she had her kids, she was fine to be dressing up and making up. She was fine enough to tell her peoples her password to go delete her facebook so those who didn’t see her albums wouldn’t be able to. I am one who SAW her album failed, so to all her hypocryte family/friends who claiming she was sick and were her friends on facebook “liking” the crazy photos or thinking they were funny, where were you then??? If she was so sick, wouldn’t that be a sign? An entire album dedicated to people doing kids wickedness and you all thought that she was just being funny? She was lol and making silly comments under her pics?
People with GENUINE post partum depression don’t have time for FaceBook!!! Like all other forms of depression, you get recluse, you don’t hang out with your friends, you don’t go out and about taking photos. But guess what – PERFECTLY NORMAL people do that, so guess what she was? You guessed yet? She was PERFECTLY NORMAL!!! Don’t come with your post partum shit! That is just as plausible as when all of a sudden people kill up here in the US they suddenly crazy, but yesterday they were in the club happy and drinking! Spare me!

Why wasnt the woman charges? This is a miscarriage of justice, if it was the father he would have been charged. I feel sorry for her but we have to follow law and order. Its is really hard to read all these comments because I’m her blood, her family and the people that knew her knew she was not in her right mind when she did this and she loved these children more than life itself.Also u people need to stop being so judgemental. None of u know her mental state of mind before all this happened.She was going through alot and since she came down she has been suffering from depression. I don’t give a f**k what none of u all say. she is my family and i know her better than that and the real sara I know was no capable of doing such a crime she snapped and if it happened in your family how would u feel.right now my family has to go through the grief of burring our beloved rachael and sophia. @ruth williams: Are you aware that … spent the past few years out of Dominica and had just recently returned? According to you, “I was so happy to get out of Dominica as a child”. Did you stop to think that getting out of Dominica may have worked for you but may not have really been the best thing for her at that age and time? Even with Dominica’s limited resources, sometimes a strong support system can take us a long way. In my lifetime, I don’t recall another such incident in Dominica.

i feel so sorry for this young lady……Im a mother…..and I know how it feels when you have a kid for a man…and he leaves you…my daughter’s father left me when i was 9 months pregnant…..but as i always say..not every individual have strong minds….some of us are not as strong..and if we dont have someone to talk to….they always say there is a fine line between sanity and insanity…the young lady mustve been troubled for a while..btu nobody took notice…..

The case of the two young children is a classic case of post parturm depression and it is amazing that contributors like “natureislander” can be so ignorant in this time and age. Do the research man. Google “cases of postpartum” or “postpartum depression cases” and you will see the results. Read and educate yourself. My gosh, why do we have to be so judgmental?
Sad story indeep and every single one of us need to learn from it. There is no justification for killing anyone, yet alone innocent kids but absolutely no one could be in their right mind and do such a brutal act. That young lady has been silently crying out for help and it was only realised after it was too late. Normal people don’t put some of those weid pictures she had on her facebook. didn’t some of her friends find it strange? Did anyone try questioning her? And I am sure there must have been other signs besides what she had on her facebook.
People we need to pray, the devil is on a rampage and it is evident in our land. He knows his days are numbered so he is searching and seeking whom he may devour so we need to be on our guards. It is time to repent and live a life pleasing unto the Lord. Those of us that say we are save, it is our responsibilty to stand in the gap for others.
Please be sensitive to the girl and her families and everyone who is hurting one way or the other because of this tragedy because as I said before, there is absolutely no way a mother in her right mind would have done that to her kids. She must have been weak, she must have been vulnerable, and she most definitely lost her mind before she comitted the act. Alot of people are hurting so let’s be mindful of what we say and in all we say, lets remember to pray for them.

I dont thhink that these children deserve to die. however, before putting all the blame on the mother we need to gather the facts first. what could have possibly made the young lady snap and do this? was she emotionally and physically abused? I agree with the comment made by the father. i think that men should be held more responsible for their actions instead of just giving children and not being there emotionally. i feel bad for that young woman. i was in her shoes many years ago when i had my child. is by praying and having a strong support system that i didnt do that to my child. postpartum depression is a serious illness. dominica needs to be more educated about this or it will happen to somebody else. i am so happy that i was able to get out of dominica as a child. dominica needs more resources to help young mothers like sarah. my condolences to the family.

it is so sad, i am not blaming the woman only she can tell us the whole story as well as the father, but what she did wasnt right the chhildren are innocent..But quite frankly i think we need to revisit our familys and men–the girl in question was much younger than the guy, some men need to hav a more respect for woman –not only breed them and leave them some might respond differntly for instance get so depressed until they kill the children—woman have feelings they are the ones home taking care of the babies when they could be bettering themselves –we need to take responsibilities as men —i feel for both parents communication could have prevented this.
This is a sad story …. Alot more should be done to educate the young women also men about post partum depression which i believe is the case of this young woman
