A Grand Bay man, slapped with three charges as a result of an alleged incident with a woman from that community, has been bailed.
The defendant appeared before Magistrate Candia George on Thursday on charges of battery, wounding and threats. He pleaded not guilty to all.
According to the threats charges, he allegedly told the young woman on November 15, 2011 at Pichelin, “I will kill you and then kill myself.”
In a matter described as a “girlfriend and boyfriend issue” by the defendant’s lawyer Zena Dyer, the prosecution did not object to bail even after stating that the accused was already on a $3,000 bail for insulting language and harassment.
The complainant, who was the defendant’s surety on the previous matter, revoked the bail today.
A new surety was presented for the bail of $10,000 for the present matter and $3,000 for the previous.
It was evident that there was still some friction between the defendant and the complainant as Dyer asked the court to warn the complainant in order to avoid a similar incident from occurring.
While standing in the box, the defendant had said to his lawyer, “Tell her (the complainant) stop looking at me, please.”
The trial for the latest offenses was adjourned to December 16, 2011 while the previous matter was adjourned to December 12,2011
