So far police have not arrested anyone for last night’s execution-style killing of  Omara Small, formerly named ‘Mwanga Freeman’, Police spokesman Inspector Claude Weekes has reported.

‘Mwanga’ , 32, of Goodwill, was gunned down at about 9:30 pm on High Street outside a small shop. He was shot at least five times in the head and chest, police sources say.

According to information gathered on the scene, the man was having a chat with friends and family outside of the establishment at the time of his demise. The fatal shots, police suspect, were fired from behind a concrete fence and aimed directly at the victim.

Police canvassed the scene for about one hour, collecting spent shells and other valuable materials to aid in their investigations.

So far the motive for the shooting has not been established. He leaves behind several children.

Leroy Langford and Mwanga Freeman (Omara Smalls) were sentenced to be hanged for the murder of Ossie Osmond Charles on October 28 1998. However, that decision was successfully appealed before the Privy Council and in May 2001 the death sentence was withdrawn.

In 2005, Langford was sentenced to 10 years in prison while Freeman was not sentenced.
