Policemen in Eggleston on Thursday

Two men, whom the police were searching for in relation to a shooting incident in Eggleston have been taken into custody.

They were arrested in Eggleston on Thursday morning in a police operation.

DNO was told the operation was peaceful after the two surrendered to the police.

The police had earlier revealed that the two men, Jeremy Gustave and Randolph Gustave, could assist them as they investigate the shooting death of Glen Alphonse in a bus at Eggleston on July 5.

Alphonse died at the Princess Margaret Hospital from a gunshot wound to the chest.

DNO is following this developing story.

  1. Hello Dear
    July 14, 2017

The matter must be tried asap to avoid loss of evidence such as sickness of pathologist and investigating officer etc. Witnesses could travel abroad etc. Justice delayed is justice denied.

Suspects? Will help the police in their investigation?
The passengers saw the shooting of the man; at least one of them.
So what type of words are these? Even though they are not officially charged, at least one is downright a murderer, the other an accomplice ( :?: ) or both murderers.
Let us be precise in our words. Get on with the interrogation and the case!

Words are very important especially coming from government officials. But I take a different stance. The rule of law in any civilized society is such that all the facts have to be gathered and the court, NOT the police, is the one to cast Judgment. Regardless of the circumstance, we do not want to set a precedence whereby eye witness accuses and police cast judgment. Police Investigate and enforce laws of the land, Witnesses as well as the accused aids in the investigation willingly or under interrogation. You are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of Law. We can rest assured that the culprits will be brought to Justice and pay for such a brutal act which has further decays the state of security on my sweet Dominica.

  5. July 13, 2017

Well, I have been looking for this news all week and I am relieved to see it on the News Board of DNO

They have to be guilty; that is the reason they surrendered; for the people of Eggleston would never encourage them to remain in hiding, knowing what they have done; for just like the people of Giraudel they are God fearing people.

And this is God’s Will; because of our faith and trust in Him, He will avenge the killers of Glen Alphonse, my sister’s first son; my nephew. May His Will be done for our sake, as we will continue to give Him the glory; we will continue to thank Him and praise Him, in Jesus name.

good job but when there are lapses on your part take your blows. one of the things I wish that you all would realize is that the laws and the constitution is your boss. if the office of the DPP is independent then why can’t the force be so . it has become so politicize and weaponized against the people but all the same good job on this score.

Good job again to the Dominica Police . Found a lost kid, arrested an abuser , now you hhave two murder suspects arrested. Do not let the comments of the haters affect you in carrying on your mandate to maintain Law and Order. You are doing your duty. So congratulations.

Isn’t the law inherited from the colonials says that you are innocent until proven guilty? you self righteous DOMINICANS.

    • Emile Dominique
      July 13, 2017

Yes you are innocent until proven guilty. Does that apply to Monfared who Lennox and his gang continue to call criminal although he has not been tried. this looks like a suit waiting to happen.

      • Standing Guard
        July 14, 2017

Emile, your comment so totally out of context and displaying total lack of sensitivity on the issue. Disregard for how it affects the Family friends and community of the deceased. You have the Audacity to politicize this post stream with things the you yourself don’t have a clue about. You are only further giving strength to Bob Denis view calling us “Self righteous Dominica”
As I see so commonly, and I regret to say that so many have totally entrenched their lives in politics and forget We together first and foremost are all Dominicans. “All for Each and Each for All.” Have a blessed day.

Why do these little cowards think they are Soo tough and bad when out there with a gun,and after committing their senseless criminal act go and hide like little kids looking to hide under their mothers dress.Big,bad, bold people don’t run and hide like chicken when a hawk is bear.An example must be made of these little coward chicken of men.

      July 13, 2017

That is the same thing I was saying. Imagine I thought them guys was in police custody long time. Because they sooo bad and shot the man in broad daylight in front of witnesses, I honestly thought they had just surrendered themselves the same day! But they run and hide like the cowards they are! They can only solve their problems with guns..weak weak weak men!

    July 13, 2017

When it good, say it good. Excellent job officers! Excellent job as well to the community. The police I’m sure could not have done it without some assistance from members in the community. Someone had to have spilled the beans. I would also arrest and charge whoever it was who was hiding them, if anyone was. Sorry to say this but the only downside to this was that they were taken alive. Scum like that don’t deserve to eat my tax money.

I’m very proud of the persons on the bus who made it known to all the criminals out there that we are not afraid. You commit a crime, we see you we talk!! We not Jamaica or Mexico, the US or any of the European countries where persons are killed if they are just suspected of witnessing a crime. This is Dominica!! We see it we talk!! Zero tolerance! Out of place to tell the people if they talk they will die..but where I be dere nuh!!

    July 13, 2017

The sad thing is the conviction rate is low for murder in Dominica which is very upsetting. If the 2 that are accused of this crime can afford a big time attorney they will likely beat the case, and if the police can’t find the firearm that was used to murder this man then the 2 accused will walk free due to lack of evidence. What a shame!!! This system must change!

  15. July 13, 2017

    Congratulations to the police.

Let the people realize the drug police are not the only cops doing their job. Hurray for homicide :!:

You are making your beautiful Island safer for me, my family, and friends to visit and a better place to live for those who have the luxury of being there year around.

Now we hope the justice system will work and the court will do its job. Also I hope the prison has a strong chaplaincy and good prison ministry and the accused will find Christ. Even murderers can be washed clean by the BLOOD of Jesus Christ and made new in Him if they will only trust and receive Him as their Savior :!:

*… the blood of Jesus Christ, (God*s Son) cleanses us from ALL sin.* (1 John 1:7)

*Therefore if ANY man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.* (2 Corinthian 5:17)

Thanks to you once more, Reverend Hill; please remain in prayer with me, on behalf of my family and especially my sister Bernardine, who is the mother of Glen Alphonse, he is/was her first child–this has to be a great loss and anguish for her, especially that Glen was so young. God’s justice must be done against those who did this wicked thing.

But you have never even been to Dominica. what the hell are you talking about? Making Dominica safer for you. Why dont you and your ministry go to the prison and preach? why dont you come to dominica and spread the good word which you claim? No, you rather come on DNO daily and spew your rubbish. that they put you there for.

Why would you attack me with such nonsense?

My thumbs up rating is much higher yours. Let the readers make their own comparison.

I have preached in prisons to large gatherings in several nations.

I have conducted evangelistic crusades in various island nations in the Caribbean preaching to capacity crowds in some of their largest Pentecostal and full gospel churches as well as in ball parks and other open fields.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

    • Hugh .G. Recshun
      July 14, 2017

Working? everyone knew where they were. why only a week or 2 later you go to arrest them? they were only arrested because they are fools to remain in the country or remain among the populace. otherwise the police would have never caught up to them. Just my two cents. But it is a good thing they were apprehended…finally. thanks to the urgent attention and non lackadaisical approach by the police.

    July 13, 2017

That’s good news but the fact that they PEACEFULLY SURRENDERED (note the last three last letters in surrendeRED is same as monfaRED), to understand our calamity. Was the gun used retrieved nou? Boy I grew up close to the RBD Cinema in Possiie and witnessed a lot of movies with great actors and actresses eh, and since after the sudden death of Rosie and Pierro I have been reminded of the importance of those old time movies. Anyways I hope we have a conviction though in these times of no law no Constitution, and evil become right and right become wrong, I am really not optimistic. I am particularly concerned about the fact that they surrendered to the police which leads me to wonder if their was a negotiator behind the scenes. You just do not know these days who paying who to destroy evidence

That is a cold blooded attitude however I have had moments here in Canada when I have felt the same way.

Now I realize the accused must be proven guilty in court. Here the law says *Innocent until proven guilty.*

The nature of the crime and the circumstances must be taken into consideration at a trail before either the verdict or the sentence is handed down.

All fairness should be given to these 2 men…

Where I disagree is that the family should decide the punishment or they should be made to work for the rest of their lives, to replace the money the victim was bringing in…

Great work by the police which should be commended. We should adopt a zero tolerance attitude on crime especially murders. We cannot allow ourselves to become so desensitized to crime that when a murder is committed we just shrug it off and carry on like it’s a norm.

      • Ibo France
        July 13, 2017

With murders aplenty and convictions rare, citizens become frustrated and eventually DESENSITIZED to deaths. It has happened in many countries where people are murdered daily. Zandoli, if you fully understood the meaning of ‘desensitized ‘, you would not ask that asinine question.
