A charge of conspiracy to rob Jewellers International against Elrado Ducreay, Cynthia Dorsett and Craig Christian has been dismissed by the court.
The charge against the three was dismissed for want of prosecution.
Ducreay expressed delight that the matter is over. He said the prosecution never had any evidence against him and he has always been an innocent man.
“It’s long overdue…plus lack of evidence. I spent over 100 days in prison for a crime that I did not commit. I am now discussing and working with my lawyer to take civil court action to have my reputation restored,” he said.
Some 45 Rolex watches, valued at over $1.8-million, were allegedly stolen in the robbery, which took place on May 21, 2016.
Jewellers International is located inside Fort Young Hotel.
A total of six was charged in relation to the matter.
God knows who did it and we can’t hide form him. BUt if the the person whose property was stolen say worthy onto those involve to bad for them.
you mean “woe be unto” not “worthy onto” right?
This place is beyond help.
How soon before they arrest Gravity for this theft?
It’s best the Police had told Mr. Nassief (Fort Young CEO) to hire some private detectives from overseas. Those Rolexes are long long gone. Maybe all the way in Miami right now.
GOD takes care of his own…
As far as I read it says want of prosecution, that simple means the other party did not show up. That is diff to a no case submission.
Padna, just say whoosh and move on. They just poor on forensics and cannot nail suspects to a crime with their outdated technics. Except if it was a marijuana charge, all they need is a statement by police quoting the suspect “ocifer is only a likkle weed I have dere wi” and that’s enough for Dominica judges to lock people up.
Then again, when the police force is made up of boys who used to work Astaphans, cannot read and write and just doing it for a salary and want to play big on you…what do you expect?
Make an example of them rado teach these a lesson they won’t forget. U were found innocent and these people made u look like a criminal, had u in jail destroyed your reputation.let them pay the price now. Take them to court self. Craig u and Cynthia to. TAKE THEM TO COURT!!!!!!
Who stole the jewellery? Where is $1.8M jewellery? What did they do with them?
God knows who did it, where they are and what they did with them.
I always new this was a dead case. Cause I grew up with crige and Cynthia and I new that they couldn’t do such a thing. I’m happy that they are out of this but there name is spoild . But a little advice I would take take them to court know . Cause this was Alot of embarrassment to had to live with. ..
the police department need to be charge for wrong prisoning of the lady and guys they must pay big the state will have to pay some C B I MONEY
Hmm, What about their reputation? These days reputation is a big deal. Its also really sad that the police could not gather enough evidence.
Now they’ll be looking to question Gravity for the stolen jewelry?
The question is this; Who is policing the police in the CDPF?
The leadership of the CDPF is too concerned with political matters and sucking up to politicians rather than doing proper investigations into criminal matters. May I ask that folks like Duke Savarin, Egbert “Alpe” Alfred, Antoine Defoe, Julie Austrie and Desmond Austrie be brought back to the CDPF on contract to help with investigations? This is becoming rediculous now. And they want us to believe that GRAVITY is a serial killer .
That man is mentally unstable and if spoon fed with details of a crime he can very easily believe he did it. Any trained investigator knows that and should be very careful. Let us hope that the police prove us wrong and Gravity really did the crime or else it will be another failure in our justice system. Time for a new Commissioner!!
Assertive like Moses rod!
Is Gravity they putting all on….Walks like a duck, talks like a duck…That investigation is a duck!
Soooo who robbed the place??
Ask Skerro and Carbon
Assertive like the rod of Moses.
These people were arrested, charged and jailed but charges were dismissed and were found not guilty. That mean they were INOCENT. They were NOT PROVEN GUILTY. So how come people who were connected to the government passport business are called CRIMINALS. Can those people who are calling them criminals be sued now or after the case(s) is called.
You do not have a DPP!!!
To Emile Dominique
Hello and good morning my people . Did you read the article or read what you post. The charges were dismissed by the Judge because of lack of evidence against the three. There are three other people who ware a waiting trial and you must remember that the Police used surveillance video to solve the crime but they can’t used the video for trial because video surveillance can’t be admitted as evidence in Dominica. The three were charged with Conspiracy to commit Robbery meaning they partipated in the planning of the Robbery even if they didn’t actually take part in the actual Robbery.b
only in dominica someone can go to jail without evidence
Terrible for the procecution. The DPP and the police are not earning their pay. This is making a mockery of law and order and the judicial system in Dominica.Recently the Judge took the DPP to task and it created a controversy, but was the judge right? Also the Dominican police have failed on many levels in many cases to get convictions. So how can we have confidence in them to safeguard us.Is it a matter of resources, training or a callous and lackadaisical approach to the state of crime in the country whilst following the lead of el Supremo.,He lies to the country and has low moral values, believing that he can spin his way out of any situation where he is found wanting.Having said this, the sad situation is not a laughing matter nor should it be taken lightly and the intervention of some retired jurists as consultants should be brought in to guide the DPP and the police for things to get better. This low point is not acceptable.
Save for the partisan reference to PM Skerrit, I for once can bring myself to siding with the sentiments expressed in the comment by JJ. This is indeed a sad state of affairs. The police seemingly is not doing its work. In recent times, most major cases go down the drain. Mr. Prime Minister, Attorney general, Commissioner of Police, Cabinet and indeed the people of Dominica, are you all concerned enough to take action to bring to an effective end the present mess? Whats happening here? Is there sufficient disgust over the state of affairs in our courts? Are we setting the pace for developing a vigilante type atmosphere. Too many cases go down the drain. Where is the justice for those aggrieved? It seems that only the criminal is benefiting. Murderers go unpunished. Burglars, drug barons, money launderers all walk away from the system with a broad smile and even threatening to take legal action to “restore their name”. The people of Dominica deserves better that what presently exists.
The amateur nature and incompetence of DA justice system is becoming too much to bear
Sue them for loosing 100dys of your life
Most likely police incompetence again..It makes no sense
Police you must take your time to do proper investigations. You rush to much on hear say rather than taking a systematic approach to solving crimes. Thus you create to many loopholes for innocent people to be accused while the guilty goes free. Happy to know these innocent people are finally free to go about their daily business. I am now concerned about the tarnished names.
The Police officers tasked with investigating crimes are overly incompetent and they are asking for the public HELP to solve CRIME.
Case dismissed again……SMH, NO evidences!!!!!
Ducreay et Al each should sue for $1.8 plus pain an suffering. Like Pinard- Burns did. There is drug, passport monies, china, Morraoco etc monies going around like tablet( coco). So each can sue for the alledged haul.
Bleed those coconut products suckers. No holding back and ask for your money.Put it on those suckers back for all the exploited etc added at DCP. No Mercy
GOD always vindicates the cause of His children…all the best Rado
Abother dismissal……. But what is funny is how the judges in Dominica NEVER dismiss a mariguana charge. The system has long been overdue for a makeover. All the judges in the chair playing God judging people and making decisions to lock marijuana offenders left and right but can never provide the evidence to charge people with murder, assult, or even robbery. The only recent person to be charged for murder is a poor vagabond in Roseau who is charged for 3 murders and probably only bcuz he can’t afford a decent attorney. CHUPES!!!!
You need to be educated on how the justice system operates. The PROSECUTION did not have sufficient evidence to prosecute or to litigate the matter, or to connect the persons with the crimes and as such was left with no alternative but to advise the Judge and request that the matter be dismissed.
The blame falls with the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office (DPP).
Go figure.
good job lad…. now make them pay you
