(DNO) Dominicans are being asked not to forget about escaped prisoner Stephen Alphonse who is still at large and considered to be dangerous.
Acting Police Chief Cyril Carette told a press conference here recently that the search will continue for the escaped prisoner.
“We are asking persons with information to inform us. We are still in search of him,” he said.
Thirty-six-year-old Steven Alphonse of Belles escaped from the Stockfarm State Prison for the third time earlier this year and efforts by prison officials and the police to find him have so far proved futile.
On Wednesday, January 27 prisoners were engaged in extracting coal from a coal pit between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:40 p.m., with time off for lunch.
Prison officials noticed that Alphonse was missing when there was a change of shift and a head count was conducted.
Alphonse was serving a 40-year sentence for the vicious murder of a young woman. He was initially sentenced to death in 1993, but appealed the case and in 2007 the sentence was commuted to 40 years.
In a previous escape, Alphonse made his way to Guadeloupe where he stayed for some time before he was deported to Dominica.

we do not need guys like him hanging around, if they don’t value another persons life why should thier’s be valued. we are a country of law and those laws must be exercised.when these people escape their should be a special task force hunting them down until they are caught

Okay people I am here to educate some of you all because I am the genius. @ Stupes, there is a big difference between prison officers and police officers. When a man is at the D/ca state prison its the job of prison officers to watch him. Its the job of police officers to get them up there. Now in my own opinion this man has gone to Guadeloupe again. So make the gwada authorities aware. @ all those who hate police get your facts straight. It’s the police job now again to go look for him, when Prisons mess up.

Well I am from SXM and I always read DNO news so I sent an email with that news to everyone I know all over so they could be aware. I hope they catch him soon and no one else get hurt or kill by him.
I cant say much about DOMINICA system because I am not from there and dont live there, but I don have friends there. But the samething happens here with prisoners escaping and no one knows how.
But we all must be careful now that we know he is out

The police not giving people information, it’s like they are afraid of something or someone. First of, like most of you said, they said the man had escaped and took a decade to post his pic. Then they said he was a very “DANGEROUS” criminal…so I ask WHY??? Why is he so dangerous and vicious…don’t you think we need to know why he was in prison? Only after viewing 1 or 2 comments I am figuring out that maybe he raped and killed a young girl…I can only assume..If we were in somewhere like the US..we would know what crime he committed, when and maybe even how…Crime is crime and we have a right to know what went/goes and will go on in our country so we can be better able to protect ourselves being more knowledgeable… The police here need to step up and provide the public with information…

What are u saying? this man is 36 years, and in 1993 he was sentenced to death? so at 19 or even before he murdered someone, and we have this guy making coals? this man should never be out seeing sunshine, i think the prison officers or whoever responsible so take more stringent methods when these hard core are incarcerated. the prisoner will pretend to be nice just for early release, they trusted him but this is the 3rd time he is escaping, how far could he have gone for the time he was missed, and did anyone not realize he was making good his escape……………………. we need stricter supervision.

What is wrong with our prison system? This individual is a very dangerous person and may kill again if he gets the opportunity to do so. The prison officers are not the ones charged with the responsibility of finding him when he escape so that is why they are taking the matter so lightly. The police needs to get on their backs. Some one must be held responsible for this lack of proper judgement.
They not surpose to let him out to work outside at all he is to deagerous .
But he must be at large still, because they (the police) took so much time to post the man pic the first time they said he was wanted. They just told us to beware he out there without a pic like we were to assume his identity. They must come up here and see how police deal with things like that.

Isn’t it high time that we abolish the British Privy Council? We are doing away with GCE O’Levels and A’Levels that kept many of us back in life; now is the time to do away with the Privy Council.
