A Dominican was found dead in an SUV in St. Thomas in what police are describing as a ‘mystery death.’

The body of Joseph Ducreay, 19, was found with two gunshot wounds, one to the chest and another to the head, inside the SUV in Anna’s Retreat, St. Thomas last Saturday, according to media reports.

The death is described as mysterious since there were no damages to the vehicle.

“Obviously, there was more than one person in the vehicle, but what transpired is a mystery at this point,” Police Commissioner Delroy Richards told The Consortium newspaper.

He told the newspaper that police officers were dispatched after the force’s ShotSpotter equipment detected three gunshots, and upon arrival on the scene, they found Joseph sitting lifeless inside the locked vehicle.

St. Thomas is a hideously dangerous place!! And, somehow, Dominicans are considered to be ignorant, brutal and users of people here. They hang together in one place and create childish chaos around themselves. They are not respected, nor are they respectable. Lock your doors and hide your daughters or you’ll end up supporting a Dominican. They have no shame and get respect from their peers for behaving badly and brutalizing women. Primitive and emotionally immature. THIS is why they get shot.

Carol that’s one of the most ignorant and childish comment. Whoever you are all of what you described above that’s who you are.. Fool!!! Idiot !!! Dominicans are some of the most loveliest people you can find on this planet. I lived in St. Thomas and none of what you are saying makes sense.. Once again Fool!! Idiot!!!

I would think those you describe rank among a certain set of characters but do not all represent the entire Dominican community in St. Thomas. I am certain there are some very nice and decent Dominicans residing in St. Thomas. This pertains to everywhere in the world Dominicans reside.
We do know people. even of the same country are not one and the same. They possess different characteristic and personalty traits.
I was born and brought up in Dominica and I know very well about what I stated. If it were not for my highly respectable, disciplined and Catholic parents’ nurturing, only God knows what would happen to me residing in Toronto. I view this upbringing an asset and thank them, most of all God for giving me these parents, the environment I lived in, the neighbors and the friends I associated with when I resided in Dominica. This was an asset which serves me well in Toronto.
Toronto has some shady West Indian characters. Some died from drugs and guns.

Dominicans here are not all the same as also in other parts of the USA. I choose my friends and associates wisely, even more so today for the world, this country/city are not the same as previously. I know who to keep as friends
Guess what? Most of them are Catholics; others are non-Catholics and church-going people.
If some are non-Christians, there are some very nice people among them. When you meet people, they see you, they have a fair knowledge who and what you are. People are not blind; nor am I. This is how we make and keep friends.
If at all possible, people must stay away from bad company for it corrupts lest they get into trouble and their life is cut short. As I stated many of our people, West Indians have died young due to bad associations.
I also have to say God protects. We must ask for His protection so that we can obtain it. I stated more than I had planned.
        God bless!

Who says there was in other person in the vehicle? The police say they found the victim alone and lifeless in a locked vehicle.
    a) did they rule out suicide because they did not find a weapon?
    b) what if someone shot the victim from outside the vehicle, while the door of was open and either the victim had enough time to close the door and lock it or
    c) same scenario but the shooter closed and locked the door? Did they find the key in the ignition? If not, did the vehicle have a remote control?
Sorry the brother had to die this way anyhow. Nobody to judge but the Almighty.

“Obviously, there was more than one person in the vehicle, but what transpired is a mystery at this point,” Police Commissioner Delroy Richards told The Consortium newspaper.”

Well, they say I do not know how to spell, read nor write: nevertheless, that in the quote I read in the article to which people are responding!

It would appear some people lack reading comprehension, or they lack retention power, which causes them to forget it as soon as they read whatever they read.

Well, if they are sure there was another person in the vehicle how can it be a mystery? Did that person disappear into thin air? They are not sure about anything are they?

So a) the guy shot himself in the chest and then in the head…. right.
      B) someone shot him with the door open?? So must have been facing his shooter when he got shot in the chest and turned around and locked it before being shot in the head or after? Hmm
      C) Shot from outside but shooter closes the door… well blood splatter will tell how close the shooter was and from what direction the bullet came (trajectory).. investigators are trained to look for these things.

I think the officer may be right… someone else was in the car.
