Drug bust in Toucari

Toucari Bay

Law enforcement agents made a major drug bust in Toucari on Monday during an operation that netted some 1,500 pounds of cannabis.

The drug was discovered during a joint operation between customs, the drug squad, the coast guard and Portsmouth police.

Police Public Relations Officer Inspector John Carbon said the bust was made at 7:00 am in Toucari Bay which is situated between Portsmouth and Capuchin.

At the same time an open keel speed boat, which the police say is connected to the Toucari bust, was intercepted by the coast guard five nautical miles west of Canefield.

Two individuals were arrested in the boat and are assisting the police in their investigations.

Alot of people are commending the police for a good job at enforcing the law and removing marijuana from the streets because its “illegal”. They only base their claim on its illegal, the law says its illegal so its bad for you and so its a scary thing. It so sad that in this day and age people still dont think and analyze the information they are given before it is swallowed. Why is marijuana illegal and not alcohol? When you look around you between marijuana and alcohol which destroys more lives? which one causes more health problems? Which one is affecting our people the most? The police are more concerned with drug busts than domestic violence. Alcohol is being sold to minors and they see it all the time yet still they dont bother with it. They psssst our underaged girls on the streets like its nothing. Their main concern is marijuana. I’ve never heard of anybody dying because of marijuana.

the ABUSE that our children going through more destroying them! which is exactly why some of them start smoking the Marijuana! When they get raped and cursed at home…leave home hungry and frustrated..go to school with so many mind blocks…go back home to ABUSE(verbal and physical)..so therefore go to the ‘block’ to feel accepted and begin ‘smoking’= FUTURE DESTROYED!it does not automatically begin with marijuana

Whatever names they are, they are illegal drugs. This marijuana is a problem worldwide.
The Toronto Police raided a warehouse and found 5,000 to 6,000 marijuana grow-ups plant worth $10 milion on the street. Some people were arrested. A house in a residential area was also raided. We will hear more about this one tomorrow.
The Police are constantly raiding homes with grow-ups. Marijuana is a big business. Along with that are street gangs, guns and murders. People are consistently arrested, illegals drugs, guns, exorbitant sums of money are ceased. The law-abiding people are always happy to hear when they are arrested and a few more dangerous people, illegal drugs and guns are off the street. When we think all is quiet, the Police are working undercover.

All the succesful bust are usually canabis and never the real killer, cocaine.

The more you kill the ganja trade the more poverty you create, less spending power and less economic activity there will be. The gov can’t find inovative ways to jump start the economy neither are they audacious enough to address the real duug trafficing problems and or hierarchy.

With the steadfast rate of unemployment they must do drugs and illegal stuff to survive. Not that i’m condoning drug trafficking and that sort of things but when pple get laid off their jobs and don’t know how they gonna continue paying their bills and supporting their families, hmmmmmmmm what else you expect? Banks don’t want to give locals loans to do small businesses, They said to the youths to aim for their goals but when you try to acheive those goals is money you need and the banks giving all kinda drama those days. Agriculture just not making sence them time.. I’m so not for drugs but when you don’t have much of an option is those kinda things that’s gonna happen more and more often!

U’re right. Is like the system is designed to fight us. People wanna earn an honest living, work for themselves and their families, but the lending institutions make it almost impossible for u to establish a starting point. Tsk tsk tsk. Either way I look at it, drug money is circulating in DA. Yes, its a fact. When the kartels have their way, they make the money. When the police do the busts, the court and the treasury gets the money. See what I mean? Basic arithmetic and common sense

    • bousselaire
      June 25, 2012

What kind of drug ? my reply was stopped ! I would like to continue the answear so :Good haul, yes, but what kind of drug other than Canabis could be grown in Dominica and send overseas ? Nobody could import Canabis there where plants grow alone in the nature ! This export market from Dominican Agriculture have to be legalised. In other hand Dominican authorities have to be very carefull to others strong drugs like Hashich (transformed resine of Canabis) ,cocaine and krack which come from overseas and poison yung dominicans that forget roots and culture. All importers and retailers of that kind of sheet have to be pursued. And also all members of that kind of maffia that organise crime related with that underground industry performing more than turism. Taking canabis out of that illegal market could save a lot of people from escalating way to outlaw behaviour. Use of Canabis itself is not the danger, but all behaviours of outlaw walking pepole going to crime level in view to make more illegal profit.

From the surface it would appear as if the those new coastguard vessels are already earning their keep, the US ambassador must be feeling good about his tactical move.

Sadly the movement of these infamous narcotic substances across this island nation is contributing to the so-call invisible or underground economy. Dominica has grown to depend on it for economic sustenance since it has not been developing its true productive capacity. As such any aggressive tackling of this scourge will reflect dramatically on the economic livelihood of many a person.

It is our hope that this is just the beginning of many more such busts following the commissioning of the two new vessels donated by the American government. Soon, we’ll hearing of cocaine busts, human trafficking busts, illegal immigrant busts, money-laundering busts etc. as the police in consultation with their American and French counterparts increase their patrol and surveillance of the hitherto unprotected northern coast of Dominica to the chagrin of those who are intent in engaging in these illegal activities in our waters.

It is illegal and you will end up in trouble with the Law. Get a legal job. Grow fruits and vegetables for export. This is healthy and financially beneficial. Your head will be held up high rather than bent or down. In so doing you will not have to hide from the Police and sneak into Dominica or elsewhere.
